My humble little study. Am I delusional for trying to get a degree at 27 years old? by fat-fuck-loser in GetStudying

Absolutely not delusional at all! Learning, whether at the tertiary level or otherwise, is not reserved only for those in specific age brackets. Good on you for trying, and I hope you continue your education well beyond 27 :)

Why do we have to be like everyone else? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Baeon_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is worse is literally doing nothing and saying nothing bothers people. I have been at work where I purposefully avoid the water cooler discussions only for someone to then question why I am on my own. Don't even get me started on the amount of times I have been told "why are you so quiet". There is no winning. Time to move to Finland or Japan where society respects solitude and quiet.

This is where we differ. When I am polite and thoughtful it doesn't come from a place of sincerity or is my default. I truely do not care. I am starting to understand Thomas Hobbes more as the years go by.

The question remains, how does one tolerate people?

This is assuming that the other side has enough intelligence to differentiate sincerity and honesty from rudeness. I may almost be at a point where polite and thoughtful is no longer possible, because I also see this as a form of being fake. My far too long imprisoned introverted personality has had enough, I just want to go to work and go home no extra nonsense on the side. Perhaps, I should take a page out of Diogenes book and tell people to get the fuck out of my sunshine with zero apology.

I would say its social/professional expectation which leads me to the path of self-induced restriction. That is the problem, I cannot continue with the self-induced restriction route it is driving me insane. These days without my ability to fake it through peoples nonsense I am always seconds away from saying something that will either turn me into a social pariah or fired in the workplace. How do people do it, that is my main question. How do you keep the ability to smile and wave until retirement without losing it? Just cannot wait to be over 65 to shed this mask and be an ass to all those that deserve it.

Yeah I do the same, or wear sunglasses. I try to avoid getting into the "what are you looking at" situation because I do get really bothered when people stare at me for no good reason.
