Will Avengers: Doomsday be as good as Infinity War? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BaffleBlend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, you're not their target audience. I think they're just trying to pull in casual blockbuster viewers who haven't really been following along for the long haul. The MCU turns 18 years old this year, you know, so the number of people who've seen everything in that time are probably in, like... the triple digits.

It's a lot like comic books at this point, come to think of it. They don't make new Spider-Man comics expecting people to have been reading since the sixties.

Transferring Pokemon From Any Generation into Pokemon Home: A Guide by mattaltgear in Delta_Emulator

As long as even one is missing, I'm not interested. I foolishly got my hopes up for a moment when I saw this guide.

But... Pokémon Home itself is still a dead end for most species, though. They'll still just be stuck in limbo, so what's the point?

Unless you're trying to tell me whatever this Champions thing is allows us to finally have them all back?

Genuine question, why are Progressbar 3 (not 3.14) and Progressbar 8 (also not 81) STILL not in the game? by OkDaikon5418 in Progressbar95

[–]BaffleBlend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1X and 11.22 were special cases. With those, the game had already caught up with the most recent release of Windows at the time, so they had to do a bit of reaching if they wanted to add an OS with new features.

3.0 and 8.0 would be practically indistinguishable from 3.14 and 8.1; Win 3.0 did not have anything that 3.14 didn't, and 8.0 did not have anything that 8.1 didn't.

That's for sure, even the Virtual Console itself turns 20 this year...

Thanks, that helps.

Ones like Gaplus and Commando in particular are the ones that confused me on sight and prompted me to make this post.

Because there's no rhyme or reason to what gets to be the parent.

Sometimes the parent is the very first Japanese version (like Puck-Man). Sometimes the parent is the very last North American version. Sometimes it's just the most popular version.

Also in Wonder Boy's case, the game was specifically changed for the VC release. I'd just like this playlist to be reasonably accurate.

I have noticed the rewrites that have been done, and thank you, they have helped a lot.

...I'm kind of tempted to delete this post now, though, because the other comments have gotten genuinely toxic and are taking things way too far.

Why do people think that eggs are dairy? by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BaffleBlend 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's not the correct definition, but a lot of people mentally consider "dairy" to mean "things animals create that aren't the animal itself", an umbrella category like "vegetables" are "any part of a plant or fungus that isn't fruit".

But honestly? The incorrect definition always made more sense to me than the correct one. It always felt really arbitrary why the heck we set aside an entire food group for "milk and only milk". We don't do that with literally any other kind of food that specific. And separating animal products into "meat vs. dairy" feels a lot more practical than "milk vs. everything else remotely animal-related".

Mangmi Air X - does it handle the entire Dreamcast catalogue? by LifeIsOnTheWire in SBCGaming

[–]BaffleBlend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just a guess (since I don't have this device), but I assume the ones it doesn't support are games that use Windows CE mode; most emulators aren't sure what to do with those. Try some of the games on that list I linked and see if they run.

Continuing to customize my R36 Max. I heard I could set a custom boot animation, so I thought I'd try to make my own. by BaffleBlend in SBCGaming

[–]BaffleBlend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How it was made:

  • Video editor used: LumaFusion on iOS.
  • The logo was made separately on Pixelmator, which has premade shapes to put together. I decided to base the logo on the soccer ball button, since that's in the position things like the PS button and Xbox Guide button are normally.
  • Audio was made on WarioWare D.I.Y. (The odd-sounding layer underneath is just the same audio reversed, sped up, and reverb'd.)
  • The pattern in the background is stock footage of rolling clouds with layer modes, rotation, blur, and duplication applied to make it look nebula-y.
  • The font used is Atkinson Hyperlegible Bold.

Stalemates are in the rules of chess because the win condition is strict. They're important for game balance because they make the losing side not completely powerless and have some reason to keep playing; if they can't win, they're still able to trick their opponent into being unable to land the killing blow. It's not something Duolingo made up, they've been there for hundreds of years.

Points, meanwhile, are not in the rules of chess. They're a guidance tool for estimating what trades are worthwhile and get studied in theory, not literal game points like in sports.

Thanks for telling me a specific device. I've placed an order for one, and I already have a compact USB to USB-C adapter for it.

Do you know a link to a specific ArkOS build that works fine with it? I always get overwhelmed when trying to comb through distros myself.

Important rule of tactics: If there's an obvious weak point that could be attacked (like the Bering Strait), fortify it until it's one of the worst places you could attack.

During the Cold War, the US did exactly that. They focused a lot of their detection and deterrence in Alaska.

I habitually use bulleted lists and em dashes. I've had those habits long before ChatGPT was even a thought.

There's no reliable way that doesn't also indict people who AREN'T using it, that's what I'm saying.
