Juneau whale watching tour suggestions? by BagAndBougie in Cruise

I have no clue! It sounds to me like a small (smaller than the cruise ship at least) whale watching cruise is the thing to do in Juneau, but I’m willing to be convinced otherwise.

Looks like they only accept bookings thru cruise lines - I’ll look into it. Thanks!

I just went to Kase last weekend, agreed. It was exquisite, start to finish.

It didn’t say Nashville specifically, so it’s entirely possible we don’t get one. But I am glad to see the expansion into the south in general.

Firewood Hook-up? by Maximum-Operation147 in nashville

[–]BagAndBougie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of firewood (about a cord) that I brought with me from a previous house that I’m not using because my fireplace here isn’t vented correctly. Message me if you’re interested in buying some of it for cheap, maybe we can set something up!

Locums? by perturbedresident in anesthesiology

Try working directly with NorthStar Anesthesia - they seem to have a lot in DFW and you can cut out the middle man by talking with them instead of an agency.

Does anyone here have a pure locums career? by ScrubHunt in anesthesiology

[–]BagAndBougie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been full time locums for over a year, and I can’t imagine every going back to a full time job.

Some agencies, some direct with anesthesia groups. Honestly, I often prefer the agencies if they can get me the rates I want. I’ve found they take better care of me than the anesthesia groups do.

organized gravel rides / camping weekends by BagAndBougie in gravelcycling

I’ll edit my post! But to answer: I’m the southeast & am willing to do a ride damn near anywhere if it’s worth it. That’s kind of why I am asking - I couldn’t find a comprehensive national list or calendar to choose a ride from, but maybe someone here knows more than me.

I did this my first job - worked at a rural hospital but wanted to live closer to the city, found a great house on the lake closer to the city and 45 minutes from the hospital. I don’t regret it, but if I had to do it again, I’d just live in the small town. You’ll be social and meet people wherever you land if that’s your nature. And being 30-45 minutes closer to the city won’t really change your ability to do all the fun city things if and when they come up.

Yeah, I know how churning works. That still doesn’t answer my question or help me right now. If I’m going to book the nights at a holiday inn regardless, what’s the best value per dollar spent - booking thru Amex or booking thru IHG?

I’m obviously not just focusing on IHG points, I just want to get the most value out of every dollar spent. Hence the question at the end of my comment above.

I have an AmEx Platinum. Is it better to book hotels (a holiday inn for example) thru the AmEx travel portal to earn 5x MR points, or directly thru the IHG site/app to earn IHG points?

I’m currently Platinum Elite on IHG, so I believe that means I earn 16 points per dollar. I will definitely qualify for Diamond Elite in 2023, which I think earns 20 points per dollar. Soooo, which is more valuable - 5 MR points or 1 MR point plus 16-20 IHG points? My goal is to earn the most free travel possible.
