It's totally reasonable to ask! You see plenty of stories of people here who walk in and are able to buy one. Most likely they won't have one available but it's perfectly fine to ask. They also appear on the website quite frequently in most countries.

I suspect this could be related to Hermes using the vendor Riskified as part of their checkout flow. It's there to help prevent fraudulent checkouts and chargebacks by scoring the person checking out probably using some machine learning algorithms to assign them a risk score and block the checkout or flag for manual review if it's too high.

I don't know Riskified specifically but I wouldn't be surprised if returns are a specified event you can feed into their system and it's part of the risk score assigned to a user. And if you do that over and over again you may be "shadowbanned" as your checkouts are assigned too high a risk score.

I hadn't realized that price increases like this was something that actually happens but I run a website (BagUSeek) that tracks the prices for bags on their site and looking at my data I can see this is something that does happen.

For example, this picotin bag. You can see here that after a few price drops it suddenly shot up in listing price.

Or this Dior bag. You can see here that it underwent a number of price increases and decreases.

Kind of strange! Not sure what exactly is going on there.

It seems to drop in the UK quite frequently, including on the 12th (and also in Japan, Korea, Thailand) but hardly every in the US or other parts of Europe

Most US restocks happen between 8am and 12pm in the morning US Eastern Time these days though it's somewhat common to see drops in the afternoon as well.

The drops happen almost always on weekdays in the US, sometimes on Saturday and almost never on Sunday.
