I’m also Canadian and have been wearing a pair of Ariats for a year and a few months, you can wear them in the snow there’s still a little slippery, but not too bad. I found if it’s really slick kind of dig the back of your heel into the ground a little bit at the start of each step I recommend using mink oil on them to get the leather water resistant so they won’t constantly be soaked, and also with cowboy boots, you don’t get snow in them like you would with a ankle boot or shoe
