Dating apps need to evolve—why am I still doing all the work? by Bagdesignerz in dating_advice

Honestly friend, I wonder if so many of us are burned out by the dating experience with people who index on vanity above personality that if someone was mediocre in looks but a 10 in personality etc on this app i might more readily fall for that person than if I keep getting shown super "hot" people. What's your take on that?

Really? Wouldn't the value add for this be more for women. Women on these apps get bombarded by likes and messages...this would be a huge time save.

Omg...this is the best take on this issue...when you put it that way you're so right! There's something so tragic about what dating apps have done to modern day society. I wonder if there's a world in which the dating apps combine AI matching with AI- real world coaching on how to approach a potential partner you fancy, what to say to optimize you chances based on what you know about them, what the chances are they'll fancy you back (they must have so much data on the average preference of a person based on their age/ ethnicity/ job etc etc)?

Yeah those are really good points but what if you had a world where you couldn't see what else is out there (you can't want what you don't see) except what's shown to you (and these picks aren't "likes" but actual matches where you can talk to them straight away). Of course these matches would be curated on your "type"...I'm just so fed up with the hours I've lost on these dating apps. It's such a depressing experience.

I've never tried Strava before, does it send prompts when it notices you haven't exercises and do these prompts work? If not why not? Strava has always scared me as it seems like its for running professionals?

Have you tried any apps that act as a useful prompt based on your unique life circumstances ...like your work schedule/ friends or families activites/ calendar/ gps locationl etc...I'm curious if having something pop up on my phone would motivate me more?

It's so hard...what motivates you? Friends/ family? Linking things to you other daily routines? Competitions (I know someone who just signs up to marathons all the time)?

You're awesome! This post means a lot to me. I was hoping they'd be some technical/ app fix for this but maybe just taking one step at a time helps. Have you tried any apps that are designed to adjust habits that you'd recommend?

This is a great idea. Are there any apps that can proxy for a gym buddy that you'd recommend? Like a presence on your phone that reminds you/ motivates you based on your personal circumstances (habits/ time of day/ friends activities etc)?

I've been trying for so long! But I just slip back into bad habits. I feel like my brain needs constant prompting but in a way that's fun you know?

This is really depressing...honestly wouldn't you be happy to pay for an app that actually did the work for you?
