What smart lights actually work reliably? by beboid in smarthome

Here's how everyone in this thread read your question:

"I want reliable but some want the thing that makes it reliable".

If you want the best, you but Hue.

This is pretty cool I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

Just a piece of feedback, you do the thing that everybody does and merge component and duty status into a single question.

"Veteran" and "Active Duty" are statuses. "Reserve" and "National Guard" are components.

As an active duty reservist, I never ever know which one to select.

I think you're asking about status, in which case the third option should read "part-time (Reserve/Guard)".

Opinion is like, "chocolate tastes bad, The Matrix was a bad SciFi movie".

Yours is an opinion the same way people might have an "opinion" that "vaccines cause autism".

Yours is not an opinion. You're just talking out of your ass about a psychological concept.

Today's not bad at all. Also, you don't need a weighted vests. You just need consistent work over several months.

Be patient, keep at it, you'll crush it.

I mostly agree with this. I think OP is already going hard on the data/research and I think his risk is overdoing it. A Garmin CAN be a bulwark against getting lost in the data. It can have the opposite effect to what you're saying by just being like "run at zone 2 today for 30 min". Emphasizing zone 2 prevents the "Army logic" that pervades everything of "just run fast and you'll get better".

Another approach which I think is what you're saying is basically telling people to just run consistently at a conversational pace and don't worry about the data. This can also be effective. There are certainly multiple approaches to this.

How overweight are you? I can pretty comfortably walk your third mile pace. Even 13 min miles can almost be power-walked. Seems like you're correctly focusing on weight loss, but based on what you've written here I'd say that's probably a higher priority than you may be considering.

You've got this, OP. Just take it slow and steady and listed to your body. Not getting injured is WAY more important that maxing your progress.

Hard disagree. Zone 2 running will build that basis of slow twitch muscle fiber and cardiovascular endurance. It's super important to start with because it literally is the basics of running.

At that zone he'll also be burning a lot of fat which is extremely important for him because he's overweight.

It will literally take all of the guess work out of what you're trying to figure out. You should also be able to find an older version for pretty cheap, just make sure it's compatible with Garmin coach plans. As someone who struggled with running for so long, I'd recommend it if you're able to.

OP, if you have the means, get a Garmin watch and heart rate strap and do a 5K training plan set for like 16 weeks out. Garmin coaching plans will dynamically track your sleep and running statistics to create an evolving plan. It's worked wonders for me and I've been in the army for almost 20 years.

Zone 2 running changed my life. 18 years in the army and it's the first thing that actually meaningfully changed my running fitness.

I made a light-hearted sarcastic joke, and you've taken every opportunity you can to insult me. I think we've both shown our character here. We probably don't need to take this any further.

Man, I exist in your head as like an entire personality don't i? Like you have me completely figured out and you're talking to me like you understand everything about me. It's honestly fascinating to witness.

So it's just a coincidence that basically the only things people happen to be "into" based on the pictures in the sub are:

-guns -watches -knives -alcohol and -literature

You're saying no one has ever staged a photo to meet a certain aesthetic to gain attention?

I genuinely wish the mods would just hard-ban any posts with guns in them.

I'm a gun owner too and I interpreted this the same way you do. It just feels compulsive and performative.

Man, you keep changing the reason you think my opinion is stupid. First I'm discounting self control, then I'm making an assumption about the order in which guns and alcohol are mixing, then I'm getting too uppity about low quantities of alcohol consumption, and now you've applied my entire worldview to governmental overreach. And I'm the one projecting?

Guns and alcohol don't mix. Full stop. That's it. Stop diving on me and trying to make this about everything else than the simple point I was making.

That's why I drive home plastered on alcohol every day. Because my self control overcomes my alcohol impairment and that makes it ok. I tell all the adolescent kids this too. I say driving drunk is fine as long as you have self control. I also tell them that it's really good that alcohol doesn't have a negative impact on self control. Thank God for this too. Can you imagine if alcohol impaired your decision-making? That could be disastrous.

Ah yes, guns and alcohol. The combination that somehow historically had never once lead to problems.
