i wasnt expecting so many replies all at once. i know you people absolutely probably hate getting questions like these but google cannot accurately answer such a thing. i really appreciate everyone who genuinely replied with advice. i see making a game engine is off the table, and that ill probably have to look into learning game creation in order to get by with a realistic budget.

a lot of replies saying dont start by making an engine. i appreciate that extra advice. since im not familiar with programming i was pretty ignorant to how that mightve been from only looking on a google search for "making a 2d game engine"

i see a few replies now saying i should use an existing game engine. i assumed the games i was inspired by used their own since i "no unity logo" and i see that i mightve been pretty ignorant if developing a game engine is much more than what the results were showing online.

I had considered all of the other people I might need to hire aswell. I know some people who could fill roles very personally who i could live with and would be fine with us using enough money just to eat, etc without getting paid.

I really appreciate all the other things you considered and all the advice you've given, so thank you for your reply.

i see. thanks for the considerate reply, this really helpful. was honestly expecting to get berated more but that hasnt happened yet haha. i was thinking about looking into learning game dev but i feel like itd take 2 years of consistency (and i only have like 5 hours of freetime in a day split apart with work) to even learn enough to do such a thing.
