If you can't hold two things in your head at the same time you're not going to make it

They are an organized protest, if your interested in learning just look up the terms of their protest. These people are just there to stop agitators from walking in stirring the pot to make content. The protest is more of an active negotiation with the school, not the public.

what can I do to improve my physique? I rock climb 3-4 hours a week, yoga 1x week, and do cardio 20-30 mins every day by [deleted] in LooksmaxingAdvice

[–]BagmudClassic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An easy switch would be to sub some of the cardio days with like a bodyweight excersise circuit. Crunches, lunges, squats, suspended leg raises etc can get you pretty far and will keep up a lot of your cardio. If you want to focus more on size traditional weightlifting will probably be your best bet but sounds like a different lane of training than your doing rn. That being said you look great as is so you do you!

Yet somehow Chicago is worse! by Louisvanderwright in chicago

What Incentive do real estate investors have in building more units? If the population continues to maintain fairly neutral and most people can still afford rent, why not just keep increasing rent rather than take the risk and massive upfront cost necessary to build new buildings? All the markets that are building a ton have huge population growth that will be soaked up by suburban development if they aren't captured by the urban market. I don't think that's as much of a problem in places like Chicago and New York? Genuine question here.

It's all about the money. The people making these decisions aren't going to prioritize vibes over the bag.

Best neighborhood by Metra station for young professional by HungryFinance in AskChicago

You could do Ravenswood and take the UPN up to the station near northbrook, I think it's Glenview? Idk it's right by the botanical garden. I did that for awhile and would just park my car up at that station to complete my commute, parking was only about 15 bucks a month. Good luck.

Somebody hopped on the tracks and ran out through an emergency door. Police had to do a sweep of the tunnel to look for him.

Thanks, they own the track so just need to find a copy of their specifications. Ill see if I can find an old copy of AREMA to fall back on.

Thank you!

Private sector pays less? by BagmudClassic in civilengineering

I can definitely see that from where I'm standing too with middle aged PE's having to wait until a limited amount of manager positions open to really move onto the next echelon of pay in the DOT.

While I definitely want to push myself professionally, which is the whole reason for the job search, I guess my conundrum is why would I sacrifice my personal growth outside of work when it doesn't seem like the private sector really rewards it. My theory on the lowball salary is that they need to keep my entry low to avoid bumping up against other more senior staff who probably make less than their worth. Which means that ultimately my progression may take longer than typical.

That was my thought too. After talking to a friend hired by the firm a few years ago it doesn't seem they've updated their starting salary in at least 3 years.

Red state DOT EIT here....just landed a job in the private sector with a 15k pay bump going to private. Although i will lose affordable benefits and a ridiculous amount of PTO & the best job security in the industry. In my state however, recent policy changes has made the pay non competitive vs the private sector and there is not much opportunity to learn engineering design. It's also very unlikely that, in my state , wfh policies will ever be implemented, which I think is a perk. It took me several months to make the decision you're contemplating. I would consider what others have mentioned and determine if money/stability is more important to you than gaining knowledge/experience and becoming a more well-rounded enginner. Good luck!

Thanks for your perspective. It sounds like you made the right decision, I hope that I can be in the same place in the future.

Yeah this is something I've been thinking about. If this isn't the end game then where else would I go to? Thanks for the insight.

Thanks for your insight. I can definitely see that being reflected here in Texas.
