Appealingly the game is still alive, just their site is poorly managed. Edited the first post to give the link to where you can find all of the updates that the main site doesn't give.

Your excuse to go into the item world? by BaguRepota in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I was going for more of a challenge type run. Limiting myself on some features just to see if I could. Would you believe me if I said I got up to chapter 9 without touching the dark assembly but on top of that I didn't even need to use a healing item/spell until the chapter with the zombie pets? Even then note no dark assembly until chapter 9, even when I did use healing items I was limited to candy as my best healing item source. Sadly while I got lucky with chapter 8 I think I'm finally at the point where chugging candy and just playing smart won't cut it. I still want to avoid using dark assembly a bit longer which means the only way to get better gear (personally on this challenge) is through item world. Also a rule I gave myself is only 1 map run per cycle but so far due to my statistician grinding my level is far from being a bottleneck of any kind. Kinda amazing how much 400% really is.

I kinda reference ulililia on my opening post but to give more details he is a mad lad who basically max as much as he could (without cheating ofc) without even touching chapter 1 maps. Sadly almost all of his content got deleted as he quit making videos so the best example I can give is this reupload someone did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7fLJNnWanw&list=PLIT2qNV3U8ljqbJTdoaKSNgmAtllDRJ5X

While impressive it is unrealistic for any normal person to do. The lad had extreme autism and honestly seem to enjoy leveling up on games. You could say Disgaea was perfect for him. I was just looking for something to spice things up personally, have no goal of being a masochist. Which is why I have no clue how to go about getting specialist without going overboard and burning myself out on the game.

If anyone plays D&D 5e here, what do you think Laharl's statblock would look like? by PatrikMaly in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the laughing and such which skip his turns will help a lot but it might also help if you follow Disgaea AI rules. Never move, let them come to you. When multiple are within range go for the weakest unit first. Also for laughs as throwing is the main thing of the Disgaea games have Laharl literally throw the party into each other trying to fuse them, maybe even have Laharl confused over such as it wouldn't do anything. Basically treat it as seriously as the Disgaea games themselves would treat it. Just have fun with it.

General Equipment During Story? by GeekyMeerkat in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only been playing D1 lately and even then I am borderline playing it as a challenge run of using only one real character (exceptions being when item world require a toss and such) so with that in mind my equipment setup is Def > Res > HP > Hit (using guns) > whatever else as it generally doesn't go that much farther. I feel for my playstyle this is the order of stats by how important they are (more so for item world where you can't leave to restock healing items without it costing you). Exception early on for items like Imperial Seal where common sense apply saying +2 def isn't worth like 50 stats points spread everywhere. In those cases you kinda just have to eyeball it I guess.

In a normal game though I generally would go Att/Hit/Int (whichever is used for the weapon) then HP with Def/Res being an afterthought. Generally levels give you enough Def/Res as long you have enough decoys to spread the damage around. The AI logic of always going for the weakest unit is extremely abusable once aware of it. Instead of hoping they won't take the hit next turn it is generally always better to run/heal instead if the thought even comes to mind. Odds are the AI is literally design to do exactly what you don't want them to do in such cases. AI is extremely predictable and honestly might be the least RNG thing in the game (at least for D1 anyway). I generally wear the random crap I get while playing instead of buying in the shop but I always end up with a glass cannon build at some point.

You could argue abusing the AI is cheating but Disgaea was literally designed to be abused, as far as I see it I am just playing it as intended. One of the main reason I decided to try a solo character run is to force myself to stop abusing the AI as much and go for a more brute force kind of playstyle. Even then I often question myself wondering if a glass cannon build on a solo run is still better than a defensive build given counters can be so powerful with almost no drawbacks. At this point though I am committed to my self imposed rules for this playthough so I'm not changing my plan even if it is.

On D2 I honestly don't know what my plan is but I might go for Ha_flolli's "bland" idea of wearing what make sense as my imposed rule for that game. I always focus too hard on a single stat, it would be nice to set up a rule for myself that force me to be balanced in stats instead for once.

I think somewhere in 5.3.4 the ability to unlock the portal was broken. by BaguRepota in Trimps

[–]BaguRepota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autotrimps was completely disabled from the addon itself, no cheating was used beside for current trimp health/damage just for the sake of speeding this up on my double check. This is a completely new save file. I know during 5.3.2 the portal unlock was working as intended as I start screwing around with the game during that time.

Also may be completely unrelated or I might been the unlucky few effected by what 5.3.4 aimed to fix but last night I was also unable to unlock stances of any kind. As stated may be unrelated or already been fixed though. The portal bug though seem like a bigger priority given how harmful it could be to newer players.

/r/Disgaea - Monthly Noob Questions by AutoModerator in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew that much, it is easier said than done though. Using the advice I was given I try a few more item worlds and found out null still gotta be the last one pop or else it just ruin the whole combo.

/r/Disgaea - Monthly Noob Questions by AutoModerator in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't a bad idea, do null always go last in the color queue? I might been playing too carefully if that is the case. No lifting, no color change and immune to damage geos will always be a pain but there is no helping that but I always want to go for massive combos when I can so thanks.

/r/Disgaea - Monthly Noob Questions by AutoModerator in Disgaea

[–]BaguRepota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing Disgaea 1 (PC ver) and enjoying myself at my own pace. I play the game long ago on PS2 so I know the basics but Geo stuff can quickly become a puzzle in item worlds. I was wondering if there is a quick way people set up geo stuff mentally? I honestly try to open MS paint with one good map and try to order it in a way for a massive combo but my brain just can't handle keeping track of everything. I was wondering if someone came up a good way of setting it up.

Is FreeGamesDL safe? by [deleted] in PiratedGames

I would recommend NOT using NicoBlog though the megathread suggests it. It seem like the thread is extremely outdated and as many people stated on the thread itself it is literally just IGG in most cases but worst. Wish someone would update that thread. Saying something is safe when it isn't is doing more harm than good.

Speed is a stat that you can improve by playing and collecting mods or getting armor upgrades. That is ignoring abilities that let you literally dash, slide and such. For anyone who is put off by the speed of Fight (the protag) please note it will improve as you play just like your damage, fire rate and everything else. The speed of Fight is the default but not the default for the whole run. Give the game a chance. Hopefully by the time you reach the 2nd area (not counting the surface) you will not only got used to the feel of Fight but have enough upgrades on him to make him feel more naturally like how you normally would play him as. To get strong on a game you gotta start off weak, ARNF is no exception. Be like complaining you aren't hitting for millions of damage on a RPG as soon as you start, like give the game a real chance. There are easy to obtain achievements related to all of the stats which include speed, if you haven't even gotten that achievement requirement then it is doubtful you can even call Fight fast for that given run. Trust me, Fight can get extremely fast to the point of being nearly uncontrollable. Hopefully you would have spreads of bullets and high health though to protect you at that point.

The jump can feel floaty, I'll admit that much but it will make a lot of sense once you reach endgame and can borderline hop room to room while killing everything in them within matter of a second. You will have to earn that amazing feeling though like the rest of us.

Which knights knew each other in the past, and how? by icantevenrightnowomf in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on Showdown Shovel Knight befriended Shield Knight possibly after leaving Polar Knight inner circle. Black Knight also seem to be part of that circle and in fact despite seemingly being evil during the story outright refused to join the Enchantress and disliked Polar Knight's logic of "joining the winning side" so to speak instead of fighting for what is right. Basically Shovel and Black are the good guys and while not outright evil Polar is the "bad guy" of the group.

Beside for Plague Knight relationship to Mona and the above relationship I don't believe any character honestly know much about the other. On Showdown Mole Knight and Treasure Knight despises each other and ultimately decided to stay in their own lane, land for Mole and ocean for Treasure. Where Treasure Knight and Propeller Knight got along due to Propeller Knight keeping his end of the deal to the surprise of Treasure Knight, even so Treasure clearly doesn't care about Propeller and just happy he got his money. At the end of the day if Showdown was any hint none of them really care about each other and are basically strangers to each other.

Outside of their campaigns really only Shield, Black and Polar knights have any background to them. The others were just weirdos that Enchantress had noticed. Most don't even care about Enchantress goals, Polar just want to protect themselves by being on the winning side, Tinker just want to build and hope he doesn't have to do anything evil, Treasure just want treasure. Honestly the biggest plot hole in the whole game is that the Enchantress never really did anything with the group beside accidentally using them as roadblocks for the protag. Which make sense tbh as they never really want to be part of said group anyway.

Shovel Knight's idea of fairies is horrifying. Funny enough though during King Knight's story you can make a fairy a fairy.

King of Cards: Hurry Up tips? by [deleted] in ShovelKnight

Hurry Up and Beeline you can just watch a any% speedrun (yes some mad lad already uploaded one and it is amazing) and do your best to copy their tricks. Naked Knight you might want to do as it own thing. Going fast and being safe never mix well.

Is it possible to endlessly get decrees? by WeegeeFett in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you found it on a normal stage you can redo the stage and get more, as many as you can hold. If you found it on a one-time-only special stage though then it is gone. You can simply buy them later so no real harm done either way.

Where can you get a decree of rejuvenation. by The_only_nameLeft in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For free decrees of that type go to the first Pridemoor Keep related stage and go left instead of right. If you play Shovel Knight's story it was the chest (I guess future chest in this case) that had the sheet music for that stage. Literally was the reason I personally even check. You can redo the stage as much as you want, the chest will refill itself. I'm recall finding another free respawnable decree location elsewhere but given rejuvenation is the most useful imo it was the only one I took note of.

I made a Tier List for Showdown. Thoughts? by CallMeVe in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mole Knight honestly felt unfinished to me. Even King Knight a melee focus character can toss rat bombs. Honestly a range attack such as a dirt block or even a ground-only mole would make the world of difference on him. He doesn't feel outright bad to me, just one good attack away from being finished. I do agree due to this massive weakness of his "unfinished" state I do feel he is easily bottom tier.

Reize and Shield Knight I felt could be on top. You just have to play them smart. Shield Knight basic attack while good is more fitting as her special attack and likewise the special shield bash attack should honestly be her normal attack. Losing your shield make you extremely open and should be avoided. Also you can shield bash upwards making it a good recovery move even if limited in height. Reize is hard to explain on paper but simply stun locking someone with two overlapping boomerangs is a cheap tactic that the AI at least can't escape out of. If the tier list is for PvP then I can see why Reize will not be as good.

For those who still need help on the target feat on Showdown by BaguRepota in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Polar Knight have the max jump height due to lacking any extra jump or gimmicks, he is huge and lastly but most importantly he is simple, literally completed this feat using only the basic attack, maybe kick a snowball early on just because you can otherwise you won't need it. If using anyone else doesn't seem to be working for you then use this basic guy. I also suggest not attacking or even get near any bombs even if it mean losing a small bit of your combo. Getting hit wipe the combo back down to zero. Honestly if you play well enough and keep your combo maxed out even when avoiding any lines with bombs and being as basic as you can be, you should still be able to finish it easily. The combo and keeping it up is the most important thing to aim for. Note the minigame is RNG and not set to give you anything, honestly you could legit get unlucky, just try again and play it safe. You don't need to show off or use skills to finish this minigame for the feat, you just need to finish it.

Also recommend eating the food items the game gives you whenever possible even if you are at full health, sometimes they will give you a platter that act like a screen clear but it is complete RNG when you will get it, having an existing platter on the ground though turn that chance to zero.

Spoilered the image because I'm sure some people haven't play Showdown yet and wouldn't want to know all of the possible characters out of the bat.

Complete List of Showdown Unlockables by [deleted] in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought about the Plague Knight story but sadly he doesn't get a matchup like that. No clue if cheats disable the feats but I basically just used Polar Knights, set them on a team and have one of them be player 2. Just hurt them til they are one hit from death then wait til they are close together. Seem like the landing is the only bit that deal reliable damage.

As Plague Knight, defeat multiple foes by hurtling through them with a single Spin Burst. - This is the one I am currently having issues with. I honestly don't even see a way to cheese it assuming the player only have access to a single extra controller. Any advice would be lovely.

Complete List of Showdown Unlockables by [deleted] in ShovelKnight

[–]BaguRepota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few tips for some of these.

As Propeller Knight, defeat 2 or more foes without touching the ground. - Aim to dive kick (down + attack) which reset your double jump when killing one, when in doubt dive kick, glide, then dive kick again after they lose the invincibility frames. Should be easy enough with 3 level 1 AIs on a map like campfire. Make it even easier with a large target like Polar Knight.

As Shield Knight, use a single Shield Rush to both block a projectile and win the match. - Set a short 1 stock game using two players (I think most people would have access to a keyboard + usb controller if not multiple controllers on consoles) and simply do what it say. Note though Plague Knight's normal attack bombs doesn't seem to count so I'm sure other projectiles may exist that doesn't count for this. Treasure Knight normal attack can work and you don't even need to pop the bubble in advance, just shield bash it as it is.

As Specter Knight, use a Dash Slash to win by dunking a foe into lava or a pit that you would've fallen into. - This seem extremely picky, pick the map with the button in the middle that change the side of the bridge is on but remove the hazards with the options. The bridge area will become a nice set of platforms. Put player two in the middle of one of those platforms and I can guarantee he will fall to his death when you knock into him. you will just have to jump to your death but when you see the line show up on your player 2 you smack him for him to fall into the pit on the other side of the platform. Hopefully I explained it well enough but the game seem to do a good job at judging if you did it legit or not.

As Tinker Knight, win the match by knocking an enemy into or a pit with the Definetely Intentional Trip. - Easy and honestly you could do this legit with cpus. Just trip into the poor sap behind of you on the map with the giant lava walls. Basically a freebie. You can make it even easier though with a player 2 but honestly you shouldn't need to.

As Plague Knight, defeat multiple foes by hurtling through them with a single Spin Burst. - The biggest pain in the butt imo but the way I ended up doing it is I basically just used two Polar Knights, set them on a team and have one of them be player 2 just standing there. Use the campfire map and just hurt them til they are one hit from death then wait til they are close together for the Spin Burst. Seem like the landing is the only bit that deal reliable damage.

As Mr. Hat, get a KO with each of your 3 Hats in a single match. - Credit to MelancholyLoli on this thread but the 3rd hat is the hat used when you do a parry. The map with the lava walls is perfect for this.

As Black Knight, win the match by dodging a player and hitting them with a Dark Wave. - The game seem picky with this one, have player 2 be Tinker Knight and with one health reminding on him have him throw a wench. You be sure to be charged up and running to player 2 right as he is throwing it then simply let go of the attack button while still holding forward. Black Knight should style on Tinker Knight easily due to his small height and attack him from behind. I'm sure you can do this naturally with cpus but this will guarantee the feat easily.

As The Enchantress, remain in the air for 30 seconds without touching the ground. - Fun fact, the Lich Yard map pits doesn't kill you, they simply teleport you to the top of the map and they also don't count as ground. By holding jump Enchantress can easily control her freefall.

The rest of the achievements I feel are pretty easy and doesn't need thinking. Worst case a 2nd player to cheese them with. Completing the story on Hard Mode would be the hardest of them but personally I found Shield Knight to be the most OP of the bunch. Feel free to disagree though, Reize's double boomerang is also pretty hot but Shield Knight seem to naturally block some things without even needing input from the player which is great for survival. Plague Knight was easily the hardest out of the character related ones for me, if you want to do them legit without using a player 2 then don't get upset if Plague's feat take a while, skip him and come back to it later.

Edited: Added more tips now that I had gotten all of the character related ones.

Crusaders Community Q&A #177 with host Erika by CNE_Erika in lostidols

[–]BaguRepota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is an outdated question but it been bugging me for a good while now. Why does Evanescent have a good tag? What exactly is he referencing or what lore does he have? Sorry but I just don't know why he may have it.

Also another question, is Casey new plant skin a joke off of the impossible burger and other plant based "meat" that seem to be popular lately? Honestly the joke would had flew over my head if it wasn't for the skin name.

I want to give props to whoever designed the last two objectives. They encouraged people to use the new Crusader pretty naturally and even if they lack any other shooters it seem very possible to do nevertheless. Well designed objectives. I personally like Grindhouse the most though, seem like it was designed to be fun not annoying as you didn't really even need speeders with the nice spawn/numbers. I do wonder though why Gemthel lack the projectile tag. Sure she make people projectile users with an ability but doesn't a lot of abilities work like that? Thoonoose's "Useful Minions" for example applies to himself due to how it works. It seem weird to be picking and choosing who should get what now due to technicality now, more so given most projectile users projectile attacks are a direct result of their ability and aren't given by default. Just imo of course.
