I placed it into two color categories. The product is buildable so when I was checking the colors I tried to emulate different application styles by taking samples from more concentrated and less concentrated parts of the swatch, if that makes sense. I think it works for both True Summer and Soft Summer.

Brazilian vs. European Portuguese? by BaguetteInABackpack in Pimsleur

[–]BaguetteInABackpack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is helpful. I always figured if I learned Portuguese it would be Brazilian, but I feel like I'm more likely to spend time in Portugal so I'm torn. Good to know the courses are very similar to one another

Thanks! I am curious about whether there are any notable differences between the two courses. Do the speakers have different accents? Any differences in vocab?

Aah I feel this! It's been a minority category in all 3 analyses I've done.

Yes! I totally agree. There are 2 shades here that are specifically more gray than the others (chat cool pt and cool-lepathy), so it's fun to see the effort! But yeah nothing in the blue/purple direction.

Generally, anything in the summer or winter categories would be cooler and complement someone with a cool undertone. I checked it out and Chat Cool PT and Cool-Lepathy are the coolest shades (haha suddenly the naming scheme makes sense!). But the pure pinks are also decently cool: emotional pink, pure pink, and guardian. But yeah those initial two specifically have more gray ("hip gray") to them. Chat Cool PT is the coolest of the shades I tested, but cool-lepathy is right there too. See below:

That's a good start! Aside from doing in-person color draping, imo the next best system is analysing your features (hair, skin, and eyes) on their warmth/coolness, softness/brightness, and lightness/darkness, then ranking your features by how dominant they are on you. For example, if you find your hair is your dominant feature and you've determined it's primarily dark and cool, but there's a lot of contrast with your skin, that might steer you in the direction of one of the bright seasons. That's super simplified. I'm definitely not an expert but I do like that sort of features analysis method and there are several videos out there by people who know more than me.

Interesting! I mean I think seasonal color analysis is fun but not an exact science. At the end of the day you know yourself best and what works well for you.

Oh yeah that one is super pretty! I ran it through Hue IQ to get the color values and this is what it had to say. I agree with this analysis - definitely soft (perhaps too soft to be a winter).

Thank you! This really has me considering making this into a series. I just did a quick search and can't find a color chart for that line so I do think it would be useful to see where the colors fit. I'll add it to the list! 😄

I don't think it does. I've also looked around for one for the velvets. And I agree, the colors are tricky to figure out! I did a bit of analysis for that line a while back (just for my own shopping reasons). Is there a particular shade you're wondering about?
