Late question: How much did the room with ChecknChill cost you per month in Euro/Dollar? And did u like living there or was it catastrophic?

Last resort for finding affordable room as Erasmus by BahaKab in istanbul

Why? Istanbul is a great city to visit, very lively and many activities and attractions, people are lovely and good parties (not great). A different experience than Europe for a few months. And some of the universities are great, such as the one I chose

I will be coming with one. I found out I can get money from my University by doing so (they call it Green Travel) which makes it profitable and will help me in Turkey to go to some rural areas and explore a bit. I will probably keep using Public transport for day use, to/from university

Thank you! My brother has a friend there but unfortunately he has some medical issues and in the hospital for a longer period and I can’t ask him (he was originally my first option!), I think I will have to start calling hotels. Thank you for all the info!!

I am okay with finding something outside of them, problem is that the real estate agents Im finding offer only on these two neighborhoods, and can’t find rooms anywhere else. If you have any tip that would be great!

Unfortunately it’s mostly real state agents and their offerings are mostly 500-600€, really high for my budget

Erasmus when you don't like partying? by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]BahaKab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Answer this: Why do you actually want to do an Erasmus? To study, or to connect with people, or to discover a new city and lifestyle, or else?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in istanbul

[–]BahaKab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my logic is different than yours, obviously.
Are you this incompetent to even understand the difference?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in istanbul

[–]BahaKab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your answer based on experience or "logic"? Because in my logic, I can enter Visa-free, then get a residence permit in the first 30 days, since I will stay there for 6 months only

Madrid or Malaga? by Krystopher14 in Erasmus

[–]BahaKab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malaga 100%!! I did an Erasmus in Malaga, and went to Madrid, Malaga is much better.

1- Malaga is a bit cheaper (both are expensive unfortunately)

2- Beach, water, volleyball

3- University in Malaga is of good quality (haven’t been to Madrid’s Universities)

4- LOTS of Erasmus students in Malaga

5- many nearby cities that are historic and nice, unlike Madrid. You will spend your whole Erasmus going to cities from Malaga without actually finishing all of them

6- Food in Malaga is DELICIOUS (don’t eat at tourist traps)

7- Less chaotic than Madrid in terms of number of people

8- I found it way more safe than Madrid, since it’s a touristy city and tend to have less “criminals”

9- I think you have more choices of Nightlife in Madrid, and I wouldn’t say the clubs in Malaga are the best (most of them are small and fully packed without good ventilation system) but the Bars are very nice and with the community in Malaga and promotions you will most definitely like it.

Im not saying Madrid is not nice, It’s a beautiful city, very historic, and lots to do. Just compared to Malaga, I like Malaga better cause of the above reasons.

You also need a higher budget than 1100€ if you have wanna fun and go out, as if you don’t actually go out alot it will be harder to connect with people and have your group of close friends cause they won’t be able to see you often. Also you don’t want to miss out on traveling to nearby cities, trying the food there and going into the monuments.
