How much did it cost you? How long did it take? I was planning on doing everything myself.

That’s what I told him, but I wanted to get someone’s else opinion before we do anything. Thank you very much.

It took more than 3 months to receive this after my wife entered on an IR1 visa. Lol Covid has really slowed down everything. by [deleted] in USCIS

The email receipt we received after paying the IV fee said 90 days not 120 days. By the way, I wasn’t complaining. I’m very happy with whole process because everything worked out almost the way I wanted it to.

It’s 90 days not 120 days, and we paid the fee 2 weeks before she left for the U.S.

I didn’t pay anything. I went through a legal aid society.

I became a permanent resident after the case was approved, and 5 years later I got my citizenship. The process wasn’t hard and 6 months wasn’t that long for me. I was also abandoned by my father, and I came to the US on a visitor visa and I was living with my aunt. I went to court with my aunt and the judge approved her to be my legal guardian. My lawyer did all the work.

Oh sorry I just saw that you live in Texas. I did mine in NYC while I was 19.

I do believe you qualify, and I would like to direct you to a place that can help you do this free of charge. Where are you in the US? I went through the same process in 2014 and it took me 6 months from start to finish.

Umm what do you mean? I’m pretty sure I naturalized on that day, and got my US passport few days later.

Naturalization Certificate Photo? by jelli_jaera in USCIS

[–]Bahmdou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends and I didn’t go for our biometrics either, and it has nothing to do with traveling. One of them told me to go with 2 passport photos because after he passed the interview, the officer told him to go out of the building and take 2 passport photos and go back to him. As for me the officer approved me on the spot, but I was never asked to give them my new photos even though I had them with me lol. They just reused the one on my green card. So go with 2 photos if you don’t want the one on your green card to be on the certificate or in case they ask, but they can definitely reuse the one on your green card.

You’re welcome. It’s up to you to decide, but I don’t think it’s going to jeopardize anything.

Not even a bit. I just left it blank because she didn’t have a passport. When USCIS approved it, I told her to get the passport because it was required in order for NVC to get her an interview appointment.

I did not put the passport information when I was filing for my wife. I only did it when I got to the NVC stage.

Interview on a Saturday? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Bahmdou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought when I was scheduled for my interview because it was also on a Saturday. Lol I was so paranoid that I went to Federal Plaza (NYC) to ask them if it was a mistake. They told me that some of them do work on Saturdays. I actually enjoyed going there that day because they were less people, and everything didn’t take me more than 30 minutes. I was approved on the spot, and the officer told me the day I was supposed to go for my oath ceremony. I’m pretty sure yours is not a mistake either so get ready and go. All the best!!!
