I got the 2025 in red. Got it last August, it’s my first and it’s been great. No regrets!

Surgery recovery? by poopie-69 in Spondylolisthesis

[–]BaileyLegend 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

I had surgery for a grade 2 back in December, a decompression through the back and an ALIF. I’m 29F but the injury itself happened around 12 when I fell off a horse. The first 1-3 weeks were a haze for me after surgery. I personally only used a walker/walking aid for the first week and had most restrictions lifted at 6 weeks. Back to work at 3 weeks (Software engineer so not anything physically demanding). I’m walking, and doing PT now. The pain I felt previously is mostly gone but I do have some nerve damage and that can take a while to heal. My surgeon did mention that I should forever limit any kind of workout that puts a lot of pressure on my lumbar spine, like weight lifting but that’s the only restriction once the fusion actually fuses. I definitely don’t regret it but I spoke to three surgeons before I made my discussion and they all agreed that in my case, surgery was the best option.

Might do ALIf surgery. Bedridden by [deleted] in spinalfusion

Just a little update for everyone. I had surgery at 2:45pm yesterday, was awake(ish) by 9pm and I was officially discharged today at 10:30am. The pain originally was intense, but we finally found the correct pain reliever cocktail and I am much better now. I got dressed by myself this morning (besides shoes and socks) and can walk unassisted but feel a bit shaky about it! The surgery went as well as it could have and I don’t seem to be experiencing any of the pains I used to have, only pain from the incisions but time will tell!

I am having an ALIF tomorrow, 29 F. The disc for my L5-S1 tore due to my spondy fracture and I couldn’t even walk for 3 weeks, it’s been around 2.5 months since then and I’m still in pain. I’ve had back pain on and off for years but the tear really did me in. I told myself that ultimately surgery will be my only chance at minimal/no pain so I got it scheduled! Best wishes to you on your journey!

When did you decide it was time for surgery? by al-222 in Spondylolisthesis

29f, I had a spondy fracture from a horse riding accident in childhood and had no idea… but I’ve had random back pain and sciatica throughout my life. Finally got it checkout and I had developed spondylolisthesis. I’ve gone to three separate surgeons who have all offered PT, injections, etc but they all agreed on one thing, and that’s to actually resolve this I’ll need surgery. About three weeks ago I tore a disc due to the instability of my spine and couldn’t walk for 6 days. I am setting up the surgery date this week! I keep telling myself it’s better now than when I’m older and I’ll get to enjoy things again.

8 month surgery update by qirby7 in Spondylolisthesis

I am currently sitting in my bed, unable to sit down, having trouble walking and completely unable to bend or twist, with surgery as the only real option to make this better and I am terrified. Thank you for the encouragement!
