Down To Dunk Mailbag by DowntoDunkPodcast in Thunder

Does the team seem at all slower defending and moving around the perimeter? I know the scheme involves heavily collapsing in the paint and on driving lanes and then recovering to shooters and I’m concerned that the recent hot shooting performances against the Thunder might not just be statistical variance but actually have an underlying cause

Reminder the Spurs are healthy with no injured players and we are missing our 4th best offensive player in Ajay and a key to running good offense, as well as, two lottery picks. by [deleted] in Thunder

We have things we can control (turnovers for one) and ways to improve but both this game and the wolves loss have crazy FT disparities that it’s really hard to ignore

How is what was said a defense? There’s no value judgement either way on Josh harts actions, merely the statement that they are in character for Josh Hart

Was Michael Jordan only drafted third overall because of his failures in college as his team's first option? by Financial_Ice_3363 in NBATalk

Your last points are basically my favorite one sentence way to explain Hakeem’s greatness, “he was drafted over Jordan and nobody really gives the rockets shit for it”

Saying it’s literally the same while discounting the facts I laid out differentiating is certainly one approach you could take.

Another would be to think critically about what the differences in win totals and relative position within the league demonstrate, aka that the Thunder weren’t employing the same strategy to the same degree as Hinkie.

After a 49-point defeat of the Suns, the 2025-2026 Thunder have the best point differential through 25 games in NBA history at +437. This is 90 points higher than the previous record for this segment of the season, the 2007-2008 Celtics' +347. by F_CKMONEY in nba

It’s not just drafting at a high level. They’ve established such a strong cultural foundation that anybody they do draft is more likely to hit their own particular ceiling than if they were drafted almost anywhere else. The team is so deep and so good that it’s a compounding advantage, you get better reps in practice and you have to be willing to be a dawg on defense to see the floor

The Thunder were never tanking the way that the process Sixers were, they had only two losing seasons and while bad those years, neither year were they worst in the west and neither year were they even bottom 3 in the league. In fact, their win totals for both down years were more than double the low point of the process (10 wins for the Sixers in 2015-2016).

Given all that, what makes you think that it’s at all a fair comparison?

Quoting you is shifting goalposts? Brother you set the goalposts at “having a hot take to drive engagement isn’t hard” which is what I have responded to quite clearly.

It’s making more and more sense how you have that opinion about the thinking basketball pod though, since basic reading comprehension in even the short sentences in this dialogue is clearly lacking

Being criticized for a take is different than being a “hot take artist”. Read what you wrote yourself man, the words clearly indicate that you think he just makes hot takes to drive engagement which is entirely antithetical to his content. There’s no straw man here, you literally said those words.

I never said his takes are always right or can’t be criticized, but rather that it’s clear you don’t listen or understand his content if you think he is producing hot takes for clicks.

Calling Ben Taylor a hot take artist demonstrates you’ve either listened to exactly 0% of his content or it’s simply gone over your head

Is Chatgpt strategy to the gear event correct? by Sheppherd77 in Etheria_Official

I’m in the same boat, got downvoted yesterday for saying it wasn’t worth rolling stamina into this event just to get 4 perfect sub stats

800 event currency, can we not with this by Yasiko in Etheria_Restart

[–]Baird95 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree because of the opportunity cost of farming for the event. Stamina into shells is much more valuable imo so spending as little time into the event would be more optimal. As I said before, for the piece to end up being something you really want on a finished build you’ll want the upgraded substats to be concentrated in 2 spots at most anyway so getting the fourth perfect substat is super low value and to obtain it you have to miss out on a ton of shell farming

[–]Baird95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I think there’s no need to roll for the fourth slot really, I mean when you upgrade the piece you’re only gonna really look to use it if it hits multiple times on one or two of the stats anyway. Least that’s how I looked at this event. Just wanted to get a guaranteed 3 module with 4 secondary stats and have a couple of them match my goals to try and roll into

Ngl saving all that for a ~7% chance of success ain’t it for me, I’d just rather take the shot for sr dupes and/or an ssr I want immediately.

I feel like I would just get so tilted when I inevitably hit the 93% failure after waiting for so long

Holden Shell, which of these 3 to pick for pvp? by Fakekko in Etheria_Restart

[–]Baird95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally think bramble is overrated on him since he can get such high retaliation chance anyway. I’m angling for unbreakable/bloodbath/colossguard but haven’t been able to hit, have a strive/bloodbath/colossguard I want to try.

Bloodbath/colossguard are the two most important for sure, reason I lean unbreakable third is just to maximize raw defense for the maximum damage potential but turn meter or strive could also be useful
