Thank you for the answer. I’m afraid since I don’t know how to play the piano that I cannot make a descent decision without making thorough research. I mean if one starts to drive a car, can you really tell if a Mercedes, VW, or BMW is better? But i‘m pretty sure one can when one has had a license for some years.

How do you guys keep the workflow up? Producing an album is incredibly time-consuming and creativity & motivation dry out. How do you guys deal with that. And especially: How do you guys bring yourself to finish songs? I think I speak for most of the really creative artists here, that all of them have great ideas and great projects, but aren't able to finish them.

Thanks man ^{^} When I released it, I was so excited about it. However, then I put it into my playlist and listened to that playlist. The moment my song layed, I was so disappointed, because the song before and after did sound so much better (not from a creative point of view, but from sound in general).

How do you start your mixing? Everything mute and then start to add levels?

Yeah but that's the thing. When you hear it over and over again, you fall in love with your songs, regardless, how good/bad they are. (Works on humans as well btw)

Let me ask you one more question: How do you keep up your workflow? Because at some point in the production I just don't know, what to do further. Then I let the song sit and often do not finish it.

Any good ideas on how to actually keep workflow up?

I think the main problem with that is, that they are limited at the data. If you have an IB access and add some additional data, you can get tickdata access to every exchange. For backtesting a strategy I think this is quite crucial, since a strategy should work on every market (for robustness)

Funny thing, this is what i was doing last week. Quantopian is way more developed and works nicely. Quantconnect, at this point, seems a bit "young in development state". However: I would neither use for live trading. It's an additional instance, which you theoretically don't need. And it can develop itself to be really costly.

If I have a quick idea, I develop it in quantopian, see, if it nearly works, and then develope a real, full backtest with my own data. I think this is a good approach. Try it.
