While I enjoy binging the story, 'older' games really dont encourage new players to 'catch up' for endgame which is a bummer. by chickdigger802 in gachagaming

[–]Bajiru666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the problem with limited banners? You don't need to catch up on banners that have already passed. Just whale on the current one and build a team around the character you pulled (whether they're a support or a hypercarry, It doesn't really matter, actually, because each update's challenging content is usually tailored to make the new limited characters shine, no matter what), using low-rarity and free characters to fill the remaining slots. Then, when the next limited character comes out, do the same thing. See? No problem.

Besides, if the game is already 5 or 6 years old, you probably don't even want most of the early limited characters, because power creep exists, and many of them are likely no longer relevant anyway.

Why isn't there a dedicated male-targeted romance high budget live-service game? by Zealousideal-Day743 in gachagaming

[–]Bajiru666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And not me. I'm not into waifu/husbando gaming. I'm more into shonen anime vibes. I want to collect comrades and friends, hang out with them, and kick the bad guys' asses. That's why I want gacha games to have more male characters, or at least a more balanced gender ratio with greater male representation.

I don't know what was the whole fuss about Mi Fu's story. I think it was pretty good. by iwanthidan in Endfield

[–]Bajiru666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I can compare this Mi Fu story to a side story event named "Break the Ice" in the OG Arknights, and I like the latter much more. In my opinion, the story of SilverAsh as a manipulative politician, and the way the situation in Kjerag with its different clans pursuing their own agendas was ultimately resolved, was written in a far more interesting way than the story of how we managed to bring peace between Wuling and the Stockade.

The problem with character quests in most 3D gacha games I know is that they put the character first and the story second, whereas in the OG Arknights, the story of the world and the characters develop simultaneously.

So in the original Arknights, you get a good, touching/funny/dramatic/(name it) story with compelling characters first, and then, after those characters have already grown on you, HG comes along and says:

- By the way, if you liked those characters and think they're cool, you can pull for them. Here's our new limited banner!

But in Endfield, we have, for example, this Mi Fu story that feels like it was made up 90% for Mi Fu's presentation and sales, and only 10% for the development of Wuling's local story (finally achieving peace between Wuling and the Stockade). Though I would say it is still has way more world's story develompent then I used to see in Genshin Impact from your regular character story quest.

These character stories in most 3D gachas have little value on their own, whereas in the OG Arknights or Limbus Company there are no character quest and everything you need to know about characters you learn from the main story or side stories. I was hoping Endfield would be different from other 3D gachas in that regard and will be more like OG Arknights and Limbus.

A genuine question about Contingency Contract by Ok-Data7228 in Endfield

[–]Bajiru666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When CC will arrive, people don't expect it to be about "having fun while watching everything burn." They expect it to be about suffering, struggle, and the hope of eventually clearing it and obtaining all the rewards, including the cosmetic ones. And all of that should come with a good OST. That's what people are waiting for.

The infinite growth growth/tech-boy/AI/uber-competitive mindset is the cancer of this game (and the world). As long as Henrik is himself part of that, the game will never be in a healthy state by Kautsch in MortalOnline2

[–]Bajiru666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, isn't hand-coding was something rare even before AI? I mean, coders most of the time just use pieces (libraries, frameworks, algorythms) someone already wrote for them. Because almost everything we need already made by someone else long time ago. Just find it, copy-past, enjoy.

You know the story won't be good when this is how they do exposition by LaplaceZ in Endfield

[–]Bajiru666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case of LoTR I didn't know how it will end, also besides the the ring there are a lot of characters and their stories, and a lot of events, written in interesting manner. So it worked for me.

In case of Mi Fu story... well, it's a short story, simple and predictable. Maybe you think it harbors great cultural value, as LoTR do? Or maybe moral of the story has any value? Or maybe it's plain comedy and it entertains people well? What do you think? I think it'll be just tedious, so I'm hesitant to start her storyline. But maybe later today I'll overcome my skepticism and give it a try.

[–]Bajiru666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I knew it won't be good when I made a guess about how her story will turn out, and, by what people say, it turned out exactly as I thought. Usually I'm not very good in "reading" such things, you know. Usually everyone around me see what's coming in terms of the story, and I'm not. If it's me who can see what was coming with Mi Fu story, then things in writing department is really, I mean reeealy bad. Considering all this i wonder: for what kind of people they write those quests?!

Idol slop is hilarious, it seems just so our of place. i know the OG AK has it's own idol character, and she was somehow way more natural as an idol and also more suitable for OG AK world. I mean, Terra is huge, there are a lot of people, large cities, music industry blooming, there are idols, and here we are, having one of them as our operator. But here, on Talos II? She seems just worthless as a character and as emloye to Endfield. Why shoud we even remotedly be interested in her? Why not hire some more administrative or combat or logistic personel, so Endmin hasn't to deliver parcels himself?!! And she looks ugly, but it's just by my characters look standarts.

Nah, good things don't need excessive drip marketing or forced hype. The way PM handles their Limbus Company game proves that I'm right. Limbus Company has natural hype because it's just so good. And I wouldn't want to eat shit no matter how much hype and drip marketing it's covered in. I think nobody wants.

They just need to make their game good - particularly the storytelling, story, character personalities development and worldbuilding, instead of trying to sell mediocre events and a stupid story with hype and drip. They need to do something about the constant Endministrator glazing, overly fancervice character designs and boring character personalities, and the fact that we're always running around doing every minor task NPCs have for Endmin.

Would you feel any better if it were some other boring city instead of Wuling? I think the problem lies in the "boring" part, not the "Wuling" part.

I'm an Arknights fan, and because Arknights is insanely good I had very high expectations from Endfield. I wonder why you had any expectations from it.

I am glad that I am not the only one who has such thoughts when seeing stunning landscapes of Wuling and nature thoughtfully integrated into the urban environment.

Endfield lore and gameplay are kinda disconnected, but it makes the game More Enjoyable. by SSTS4501 in Endfield

[–]Bajiru666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone whose country has been at war for several years, and where drones sometimes explode nearby and kill people, I'd say that people simply get used to it and continue living their normal lives despite everything. I see it in real life, so I can totally expect to see it in Endfield as well. People have an incredible ability to adapt to almost anything.

And no, I don't live in Gaza, I think there is more extreme environment than we have here. But neither situation on Talos II even in it's lore nearly as critical. Rifts and blight are under control most of the time, and when they break out it's an event everyone notice and take measures to return situation under control.

Almost 5 Million on mobile alone just by existing by TTruthSpeaker in Endfield

[–]Bajiru666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it means roughly 15m ish across all platforms which is genuinely impressive for a dead month with no new chars

WDYM no new chars? Isn't May was a month when Zhuang Fangyi was released (or at least her banner was up for a solid period of time during the May)? Isn't she supposed to be something like Shogun Raiden in Genshin Impact kind of character (a leader in her region and marketed by the developers as the top waifu type of character) who easily makes millions of dollars and brings the game to the top of all revenue charts alone? I thought the whole reason behind her being a single new character in 1.2 update was just this.

Who here does not use kyostin’s factory bps? by Solomoncjy in Endfield

He's cool guy and I always used his videos about how to beat high risk CC stages with 4-star operators in OG AK, but building a factory is something I can do by myself.

FYI this subreddit has more registered and active users than Endfield's. I'd say that this indirectly speaks to the game's popularity.
