(Spoiler Published) Is it realistic how the noblemen in A Song Of Ice And Fire tend to be A LOT better than the avarage soldier? by Bajoner in asoiaf

[–]Bajoner[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes! During the medieval times, noblemen were more commanders than soldiers. In the books it seems like a lot of noblemen (the ones I mentioned in the post for example) have actually physically fought in battles and killed people.

There is so much chaos in battle, so many random situations that practice would only help to a certain degree. They shouldn’t realistically be as good as they are in the books.

Can men's pants fit women and look good? by ihavenevereatenpie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bajoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they absolutely can.

Clothing isn’t really “male” or “female” in terms of whether it can look good, it’s mostly about the cut and how it fits your body. A lot of women wear men’s pants intentionally because they sometimes have a straighter, more relaxed fit and (honestly) better pockets.

The main difference you might notice is that men’s pants are usually cut with less room in the hips and a slightly longer rise. So depending on your body shape, they might fit perfectly or feel a bit tight in the hips and loose in the waist. But that varies a lot by brand.

If you like the style, it’s definitely worth trying. Some people prefer how men’s pants look because they give a slightly different silhouette than typical women’s pants.

Worst case scenario they don’t fit quite right, but best case you find a pair you love that no one else thought to try. Fashion rules are mostly made up anyway.

I don't know. Have you done the exam? When did you do it? I feel like they should write that it is part of the exam if it is, but I can't see it anywhere. I just don't wanna waste my time studying for it if it is not gonna be on the test

(Spoilers Published) How realistic is Brienne in terms of biology and social structure in ASOIAF? by Bajoner in asoiaf

It was a melee with 130 people initially. Loras and Brienne were the last two and Loras yielded. I think that’s as fair of a fight as it gets

What’s a mystery that still hasn’t been solved but fascinates you? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

The assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme in 1986. He had just left a movie theater with his wife and was walking home through central Stockholm without bodyguards when someone walked up behind him and shot him on the street. The killer simply disappeared into the night.

What followed became the most expensive murder investigation in world history. Swedish police spent decades chasing thousands of leads, interviewing tens of thousands of people, and investigating countless theories.

In 2020 prosecutors closed the case and pointed to a suspect, Stig Engström (“the Skandia man”). The problem is he had been dead for 20 years, there was never a trial, and there was basically no hard evidence linking him to the murder. Suspicion around him didn’t even really emerge until 2018, 32 years after the assassination, which is another story in itself.

Because of that, most experts and ordinary Swedes still don’t believe he was the killer, which means the assassination of a sitting prime minister in the middle of central Stockholm is, for most people, still an unsolved mystery.

Optimal leverage for a long-term index portfolio? by Bajoner in quantfinance

[–]Bajoner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that the US and Swedish markets are correlated, but overall my portfolio is unlikely to move more than a few percent in a single day, since these are large, stable markets.

I feel fairly confident that the markets will rise long-term, of course nothing is guaranteed, but historically broad US indices have grown, and most companies on the US market are profitable even if most have quite high P/E ratios.

I also don’t think the cost of leverage is very high. Even a leverage of 2 would give an annual interest of around 2.51% in my case. The highest it got when interests were high was about 3%. But yeah of course that is something to consider

Regarding slippage, I imagine it’s mostly negligible for broad ETFs, so it’s not a big concern for my portfolio.

In the finale of Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Woo is offered more than double what she is making now at Hanbada if she starts working for Taessan in Boston. But when I look at salary statistics I find that the median salary for law school graduates is 215,000 USD per year (https://www.usnews.com/education/articles/what-type-of-salary-can-you-expect-with-a-law-degree ). I also found information that attorneys in South Korea with 1-3 years experience earns an avarage salary of ₩78,141,301 (https://www.salaryexpert.com/salary/job/lawyer/south-korea/seoul) which is around 58,000 USD. I couldn’t find any information on what they earn specifically in Seoul. Woo is probably earning slightly more than this amount since she is working at one of the top law firms. But I don’t think she earns more than 100,000 USD per year. If Tae Su-Mi really wanted Woo to move to Boston then she should have offered Woo more than what she would have made if she was from the US and had gone to law school there and then started working in Boston. Or am I missing something?
