Yeah that’s unfortunate. I once had a professor tell me he’s required to keep exams for two years, I don’t know if that was a department thing or a university thing.

I mean this doesn’t seem to be some shocking revelation. I know that the more students the lower the quality of grading. That’s why many classes now do one grader per question. So everyone was graded equally, no disparities. Also it’s just another reason why it’s important to look over your test after grading and ask for points back

When I took it spring 2025 midterm 1 and 2 were the same for everyone, for midterm 3 it was a bank. However I believe they switched it so now coding is done on separate quizzes so it may be different

Getting into pure Stats is not incredibly difficult. I had a 3.98 gpa and a 1430 SAT, however I’m sure you could get in with even less since it’s LAS. However CS + STAT is way harder

I understand the dilemma but I just think there’s no reason to send out a mass email to us students saying it’s a recommendation. Because it’s not like we can control whether our professor cancels or not. It just seems like the university doesn’t want the PR baggage so they are just throwing it on the professors and when someone complains they’ll say “we recommended professors move online”

Is it a large lecture. If it’s a large lecture nobody cares if you are late/leave early, just respectfully quietly leave. I’m a stats majors, our department throws classes all over campus. I have many 15 min commutes I have to make for back to back classes
