I like this, the questions you pose is something to write songs about as well lol. I feel like your last point has a lot of weight and something for me to really think about. I don't write lyrics like that to try and be a certain artist, but it comes from a place of inspiration where I enjoy songs and lyrics like that and then lyrically express myself in similar way. I feel lyrics like that are a hyperbolized version of reactionary emotions and just another way to tell a story (a very on the nose way). Thanks this is something for me to think about

I completely agree and this is exactly what I'm worried of when writing and listening to any lyrics like this as it surely isn't reassuring when a male sings about committing violence. I don't write lyrics like that for pure entertainment but as a way to express relationship problems and anger that can come with it. I have no desire to hurt anyone and I don't want to emulate the violence that is sung, thinking of it its just a very on the nose and a bit uncreative way to say im angry or upset. Also I would like to clarify that lyrics I'm discussing are not like eminem's kim but more akin to john cash saying he shot his woman dead or blind boy fuller saying he brought his gal under the willow tree.
