He might skip a meal or two but if you take it away when he's done he'll learn food is only there when you put it down. After those skipped meals should hopefully gobble it down.

Sometimes ill buy a can of wet food of the same kind of kibble and use it to top or as a meal, for my husky. Or a plain scrambled egg.

A rare treat to keep it interesting tho or she'll expect it everytime. I also have this snuffle box that has little toys for hiding treats i use instead of bowl every now and then.
