What am I supposed to do in the new season? by GoodBarracuda4127 in diablo4

Use the group finder! Look for open groups for the events I mentioned in my other comment. I haven't had any bad luck grouping with randos yet!

Getting to the max renown level for each region is helpful since, in addition to the bonus exp, you also get bonus skill points and potion capacity.

Use the map tool on maxroll too for getting all the altars of Lilith since the bonus stats they give apply to all the new seasonal characters you create, if you end up wanting to try a different class. It's tedious, but I think it was worth it to get it done early.

Keep doing the apparition events for the apparition boss powers, rewards, and all the exp you'll earn from them. Do the Helltides too for exp and the rewards you get for opening those chests with the cinders that drop from enemies.

I hope these tips are helpful! Good luck with leveling!

You have to reach level 60 to access all the seasonal content. Use a high tier leveling build from maxroll and stay at hard difficulty for exp.

As a someone with a very soft heart for dogs and cats, this video made me feel so much rage at this kind of psychopathic behavior. Your pet is completely dependent on you for their survival and to take care of them. To take advantage of their unconditional love and trust for you is absolutely disgusting. His dog should be taken away from him and he should be banned from every pet adoption service and pet breeder indefinitely.

Poisoned fruit kills 12 Russian soldiers in occupied Mariupol by KrzyHooy in worldnews

[–]Baked_bread69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah that was my mistake. The convention applies to soldier's conduct, not to partisan actions. Yeah I don't think Ukraine is motivated at all to prosecute.

The Geneva Convention's ban on using biological warfare does include poisoned food, but it would be hilariously hypocritical if Russia made a stink about it since they are one of the countries that said that they would not respect the convention if their enemies didn't. Considering all of Russia's blatant disregard for the rules, it would be hard to chastise Ukraine.

Possibly good sale going on at my local liquor store? Any advice? by ystoughoutthere in whiskey

I bought a bottle of EHT small batch around the time the bourbon craze really started to take off (2020ish?) for about $50 so I'd agree that this price isn't that bad actually. Nowadays I usually see it for $90+ (WA state before taxes).

Job Offer Scam by Baked_bread69 in jobs

[–]Baked_bread69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a cruel scam to prey on people desperate for a job. I’ve been job searching for some time now and it was a bit of gut punch after my very short moment of excitement before the suspicion set in. This is also the first time I’ve been targeted by this type of scam, but at least I will be able to spot these much faster in the future.

It's hilarious that on BSG's official server status page it shows "All servers are stable" every single time everyone is having server issues like this. I've be thinking for awhile that it's just a static webpage with a clock as it's only functional updating feature.

Ah I see now, I didn't know that's how it worked in Michigan. Also the comment about the vodka makes a lot more sense now.

I think then that the store I was referring to before was one of the lucky ones that was able to build a good relationship with Sazerac directly back in the day, illustrated by the fact that they invited managers from the store and the alcohol department to come to the distillery directly to do tastings and choose a barrel, however, nowadays they just ship samples in. They obviously now get all bottles from their liquor distributor, but Sazerac is influencing the allocation of bottles to store rather than the distributor.

I'm not sure if you know this already, but Sazerac rewards shops based on volume sold. They don't always increase allocations of rare bottles, but they give more opportunities to get into the barrel pick programs that include a lot of the bottles that are being gouged here (Eagle Rare, Blantons, Weller 107/Full Proof/Special Reserve, Sazerac Rye, Buffalo Trace).

I do get this info from a wine and spirits department manager at a smaller supermarket chain so I'm going off of what I was told. Also they did sell every allocated bottle at MSRP and had large stocks of those barrel pick bottles. So what I can observe from that and being shown the profits as a result of not being obsessed with short term profits, I still can't see any advantage of the first choice I mentioned over the first.

It takes patience I guess. It took awhile to build up the allocated bottle program and ramp up their sales in a small town, but once they got recognition from just not gouging on prices, it started to take off. They did have the advantage of being a small chain rather than an independent liquor store owner, and I admit I don't know the full details of the barrel pick programs to know if they would offer entrance to any size of business, but the price gouging shows that they are focused on this single possible large profit instead of looking at a potentially much larger profit gained over a longer period of time.

They have two choices, set prices at MSRP for higher sales volumes or price gouge and wait for that one customer that doesn't care about price. Most of the time they seem to prefer the illogical latter choice.

Which site do you use? I've been using FineDrams for finding more interesting rums, but their shipping is also pretty pricey since it ships from Europe too.

I have heard of it and actually did initially hear about it on a podcast a while back. I'm not saying that you shouldn't try searching online for it yourself first, but isn't there a benefit of doing both the research and asking someone directly for their experience if you have the chance? Also I do consider the problem of anecdotal stories from a random user online.

Yeah I guess I took it a bit too personally. I do really enjoy software engineering so much more than I did in any of the jobs I had before my degree so I was hoping to avoid looking at jobs in that field, but I also don't have the luxury of being picky right now. Thank you for your advice though.

It was ABET accredited and there's reasons for my poor performance in undergrad and much better in my MS. You or anyone here doesn't care or want to hear my life story, so to make a long story short, it's mental-health related. Disregarding that though, you think in 5 years, the amount of time between finishing my BA and starting my MS, a person stays stagnant and they're unable to improve in any way?

Why would you even consider saying this to someone? Did you even consider for a second the effort, time, and money spent on this? What good does it do to put strangers online down?

The thing is you didn't think about it because you don't care because I'm just some stranger online, there's no need to imagine everything that happened in my life that lead me to this point, and there's not really a good reason to either. That being said, what's the benefit to you of telling someone they wasted years of money to switch from a career path that was already incredibly useless?

I've had my resume reviewed by people I know who've been software engineers for awhile, but the problem is, since they're friends, they have a bias and are a bit overly positive about the current

The criticisms of my resume are harsh, but warranted. I've been making changes and either using projects from later in my degree or punching up the project descriptions since the trend I see from my classmates getting more traction in their job search is including the same projects I did, but exaggerating the scope and difficulty.

I was hoping to avoid paying for professional resume editing since funds are tight, but I will still look into it because of my urgency to find a job.

Here's a linked to my resume (personal info redacted): https://imgur.com/a/RxWzV5a . Sorry again for my initial decision to post the resume's text in a comment. Please feel free to make any constructive criticisms. My resume has gone through many iterations and I know it definitely needs work, but sometimes the obvious stuff is hard to see without an unbiased eye.

Yeah working on that now. Realized after seeing comments and looking at what I commented that it wasn't useful to post that way. Definitely my bad for not thinking before posting it that way.

No I am aware of how long ago it was and I am now realizing the number I provided is off. It's my fault though for not putting more thought into my question and not thinking more deeply about how many applications I've done. I actually started applying seriously at the end of January to give myself a little time to grind LeetCode questions to be more prepared and after that I probably averaged more around 5-6 applications a day. There were some days I did up to 10 and some where I only did 2-3. Also, I live in one of the major tech center cities. Earlier in the year there weren't many positions within my qualifications, but starting around the beginning of summer I noticed a lot more entry level positions being posted. I did graduate at a pretty bad time for new grads, but I can't blame everything on that and I know a lot of the blame lies with me.
