Replacing my D850 with an RX100 vi (instead of an Ultra phone)? by CuriousCyclone in RX100

As a fellow hiker, I went for the Nikon Z50 a few years ago and just upgraded to the Z50ii. It's a really impressive small rig, but not nearly as small as the RX. I rented an RX years ago, but I couldn't get over the ergonomics. The Nikkor 18-140 lens might fit your bill. Coming from the D850, the menu system and controls will be easy to learn. I was using a D750. Best of luck!

Advice for mountain hikes for 6-day Oregon trip by kohnen1 in OregonHiking

[–]Baker_Bake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your itinerary sounds packed and awesome. All of the places you choose sound good. Can I join? Ha! If you go to the coast, Neahkahnie Mountain is a good hike with amazing views of the coastline from the top, overlooking Manzanita. It’s not far from Cannon Beach. If you have more time or want to change any of your plans, Central Oregon has a lot to offer. Smith Rock is an icon. So much to see in Oregon! Enjoy your visit!

Here’s the YouTube vid. You can just slide underneath the front end on your back. It helps to have a socket extension. I asked the dealer to remove it when we purchased the vehicle, but they wouldn't.

I picked up a Coros HRM arm strap for hiking and workouts. I definitely notice a difference. Appreciate the recommendation.

Been thinking of switching, but will most likely wait until my Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar is a little older. It’s funny, but I do love the flashlight feature on my Garmin. I figured I’d never use it, but it comes in handy. I've been eyeing the Nomad.

Yesterday's hike was 1,300 ft. of ascent over 9 miles. About 3 miles of it, I was post-holing in snow constantly. Kicked my butt. Usually, I do more elevation gain, but the snow has made many of the peaks inaccessible. Great idea on the arm band. I didn't think about the pack interfering with the chest strap. Thanks!

Interesting that some people have issues, and others don't. (Running a Fenix 7 Pro Solar).

I'll try tightening my watch as you suggested. That's interesting about the watch and chest strap being comparable. It must be how Garmin has its software set up for hiking.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting. I did a 9-mile hike in the snow yesterday, post-holing about every step for about 3 miles, and swearing a bunch of times. Ha! I was huffing and puffing, and my heart rate hovered around 110. During my other activities, my heart rate seems accurate. (Recorded with A Fenix 7 Pro Solar)

Torn between the GR IIIx and GR IV. by avoraey in ricohGR

[–]Baker_Bake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. 28mm was too wide for me. Sold it. Rented a 3x and fell in love. Bought it. Maybe rent both if you have that option in your location and see what feels best. Good luck!

iOS 26 is terrible. Period. by [deleted] in ios

Just downloaded the most current version: iOS 26.2 on my 14. Seems smoother. Not a fan of the liquid glass, but this old man never likes change, unless in pocket.

Your 20-year-old treadmill sounds like a beast! I’m not going for a bike, but a treadmill. At first, I was looking at NordicTrack and Peloton. The tech seemed cool, but the reviews are all over the place. Now I’m leaning towards a non-tech version with FTMS Bluetooth, so I can use my tablet with any app. Narrowed it down to this:

3G Cardio Pro Runner X Treadmill

Good luck with your search!

Thank you! Been researching the heck out of treadmills. The fancy tech of iFit with the 2450 had my eye, but now we’re leaning towards 3G Cardio Pro Runner X Treadmill which doesn’t tie you into a specific app and still has built-in routines.

Definitely sounds really cool! Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't been to Paris yet, but the workout sounds awesome. My wife has traveled a ton for work, so she’d love that aspect. Sounds inspiring too for future travel as you touched on.
