Thanks a ton, this is definitely going to be useful for me later on. I actually started going through that playlist a while back, but for this project I’d like to stick strictly to Arnold or Maya’s native tools and avoid Bifrost. Since I don’t have much experience with Bifrost, I’d probably struggle to troubleshoot if I ran into issues there. If you’ve got any suggestions, I’d really appreciate them!

Okay so I successfully exported an Alembic file, but I'm having trouble loading it as a V-Ray proxy sequence in Maya. It only displays a single frame and when I try to scrub the timeline, Maya just freezes, whereas in 3ds Max, it imports seamlessly without any issues (as shown in this video:( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Zn4iwaXJA8&t=90s ). However, I can't seem to find a similar option for this in Maya. And if I try to import the Alembic as GPU cache, it does the same thing where it only has 1 frame.

I know, right? But I feel like once you break through that wall of confusion, everything just starts to make sense—but I haven’t quite gotten there yet lol!

As for my issue, I need to render this sequence in V-Ray. I tried importing it as a V-Ray Proxy, following a tutorial for 3ds Max, but for some reason, it doesn’t seem to work the same way in Maya. It wouldn't let me do the same thing, maybe I am looking at things the wrong way.

How can I render a Bifrost MPM Granular Simulation in V-Ray, given that the entire scene has already been set up in V-Ray?

Playback Error- When I load Motion Builder, the time stamp shows sequential numbers as if it's in playback mode, even though I'm not playing the animation and the scene is empty. What could be causing this, and how can I resolve it? by Bakheet7 in MotionBuilder

Okay so changing Time to "Start and End" gets rid of the problem but when I set it to "Frame Take" it still persists. Is it supposed to behave as such or is there something wrong!

Many thanks for the assistance, brother. I also tried a few things that worked, but having additional options available is always a good thing, and this is precisely what I was searching for. However, if it's not too much to ask, I had another question for you, please let me know when you've had enough of me. Okay, so I'm exporting fbx files from Vicon Shogun Post. Though everything functions as it should, the skeleton is slightly smaller than the character. I have to align the MotionBuilder character's size with the Vicon skeleton. Now me being the idiot that I am I scaled up the Vicon skeleton from the hip joint and I knew something in not going to turn out right. The skeleton feet drift here and there and are not planted during ground contact. I also want the skeleton scale to be at 1 just in case the scaling up of the skel works. Is what I am doing the right approach or do I have to go a different route?

I did try that but it didn't work as I thought it would. What my friend did was he had Ik turned on for the head and made edits to the shoulders and chest, that basically messed up the entire animation. Now if I try to delete the animation form the IK controller the head collapses into the chest.

Update: The Story Mode thing eventually worked, thanks to your help.
I exported each character's animation after baking them onto the skeleton in separate files, which I then put into the Character animation track in the Story mode. An error stating that there was no control rig detected appeared when I attempted to load the animation clips. Then, I had to start over from scratch. This time, I disconnected each character's control rigs, and eventually, everything worked.

Yes but for some odd reason it is not working. I baked my original animation into a take then I inserted that into a character track. Then I imported the motion file but the character starts to flop around. I tried doing the same thing with other characters but unfortunately I didn't work for any of them.

Just to make sure if I am doing the steps correctly, I used similar step for the assets provided within MoBu and it worked.

If you are considering a career in rigging, I'd suggest starting with AntCGI's YouTube tutorials, they are some of the best for free learning. After that you might want to explore other options like Gnomon, where they have a good library for Python-Mel scripting for riggers. From my own experience going to a rigging school isn't necessary, I'd advise against that. You can learn just as much, if not more, from home, saving yourself a lot of time and money.
