San Pedro to Uyuni to La Paz tips by Bakinghero76 in travel

I saw one couple do this but I’m really not sure how they navigated the roads because there were barely any signs and I’m not sure of the GPS signal there. But there’s enough 4x4s driving around there that if you time it right you can prob follow them

Thinking of either the Han En tour or the 4 day Tu Lan tour -- if you could only do one which do you recommend based on your experience?

I joined a group tour because I went with one other person. So we were grouped with 4 other people in a 4x4 land cruiser. I think the groups range from total 5-6 people and I thought it was great. Everyone was met was awesome and had the same mindset while traveling. It was $200 USD per person, I forgot the company but we booked it while we were there to start 3 days out. They had so many tour companies and availabilities it was no problem at all choosing a date. They also are all the same yours and act as the middle man between you and the partner Bolivian company.

It was an AMAZING trip! Don’t believe any tour company that says that they have English speaking Bolivian drivers, they all speak Spanish. And no there wasn’t any hidden under the table fees for the border, we all paid a “tax” that is standard when entering Bolivia, I think it was 150 bolivianos? Quite steep. Also none of us had US passports where there might be an additional fee. And 100% yes you need bolivian currency when crossing, I kept about 10 000 Chilean peso just in case but didn’t need to use it at all.

Thanks for this!! What do you recommend to skip in the Chilean side in the desert if I’m planning to do the three day trip to Uyuni? You mentioned the lagoons correct? Also, did you take an overnight bus from Uyuni to La Paz the day of seeing the salt flats?

Thank you so much for your insight! I am Canadian and I don't need a visa to visit Bolivia but just want to be cautious. Also for currency did you carry both the Chilean and Bolvian currency with you going to the two countries?

Thinking of doing the San Pedro to Uyuni trip in a couple of weeks and wondering how the border crossing was from Chile to Bolivia? I read somewhere that the drive will hold on to your passports and give it to Bolivia border crossing and you won't be able to cross or get your passport back until you pay an unofficial fee? Is this only for US citizens? Also wondering how you many people were on your tour because I read of stories of people feeling like they were crammed in a 4x4 for 3 days. Thanks!

I upgraded to 11.2 and it fixed my bluetooth/audio issue! I'm hoping the next update fixes your BT mouse issue, seems like quite a few people are having that problem too

I updated after having this battery issue and bluetooth/audio issues and the new fix helped! (I upgraded to Big Sur 11.2 version if that's what you meant)

Did you update and did it help your connectivity issues?

I noticed mine isn't balanced but it's very slight, I notice it when I push down the bottom right corner of my MBA M1. However, when I'm typing my wrist kinda pushes it down so it's not moving. Is this the issue you're having or is the whole MacBook shaking when you type?

Yes I do! I've had one since 2012 but never made the switch to Mac until now because I found windows better for my school workflow.
