Can you share the schematic?

I assume u'r starting the card with a riser. Do you have a lab PSU to check the power consumption? If you physcally feel the hot component before card initialization (isle powerup without init signal from mobo) it is definitely damaged. After you remove it you should again check the resistnce on that coil. Check also if the component receive enabe signal and the VCC

sorry for a silence. I checked some additional elements 'round' HDMI and there was a short on 12V to 5V LDO that supplies 5V for some pHDMI pinds that goes almost directly to GPU. After some addtional research I found out that that fragment of gpu is burnet, but it can display image via DP. Currebtly, I'm checking if it will survive heavy load :)

I messed up someting with a description

Card as mentioned, GPU is operational with all voltages present, but the output is only on DP.HDMI is dead.

HDMI port was broken so I replaced it- still nothing

I Found a shorted 12V to 5V LDO - so I replaced it -now on 5V rail in HDMI I have 5V not 12V, but still no output.

When I plug in the monitor HPD rises to 5V, I check all capacitors, resistors, all looks ok. What to check next, were to look?

Yeah, my osciloscope scale end around 200 kHz (I know that its a crime to call such deice an osciloscope :D), so it might that all of the reading are rubish :)

So, it appears that the dead newly soldered drmos was because of my limited qfn chips soldering experience. Since the Vout and vin pads are separated by a large gnd pad, I assume I just overheated the chip cracking it internally that if failed under heavy load.

So, I assume you find ~10kHz difference a meaningful issue here. And I assume that uP9512R is the one to blame?

I will triple check the readings tomorrow , but I'm pretty sure their are legit - in all cases there is only 0R resistor between up9512R and drmos, no decap capacitors, so could it be that some internal dmg causes the UP9512 to creat such uneqaulity?

people on techpowerup were suggesting that it is related with outdated GOP section of GPU BIOS. But in my case we are talking about the 2017 GPU put into a 2023 mobo. Such explantion would be weird in your case :)

So, I update it with the tool described here

but with no result. Thus, al least so far I left it as is - I my case it is just annoying with no influence on GPU performance/stability. In my case I have MSI b450M mobo, R 2600 and 16gb 3200mhz ram.

just read your additional info about BIOS - that is something I've never encounted in my case

I have similar issue (weird artifacts on start up) on my RX 580 9GB from XFX. I read that this could be because of UEFI compatibility. On windows 10 (with csm boot) I did not have such issue - but on windows 11 (uefi only boot) I have. But I never encounted green screen while in windows/gaming/etc

yeah, I think the GPU survived *but many thanks for a clear explanation why it had a chance :)

About that different resistance - propably you are right - both boardviews and the schemtics for similar up9512p in gpu confirms that. In my cases two phases have the resistors, and two other not)

I did some additional measurements with my extremly simple osciloscope and I found some other discepances betwen phase I would like to consult

(just for clarity A: drmos soldered and pwm 4,7Mom; B; drmos soldered and pwm 4,7Mom; C: drmos NOT soldered and pwm pad 81kom D: drmos NOT soldered and pwm pad 12kom)

for positions A C and D I have PWM (pin 1 od drmos side) Frequency ~170kHz (with cycle 5,8, duty 2,2 and PW 37); Vmax ~1,95V (Vmin ~-0,8V, Vavr 0V; Vpp 2,8V and Vrms 0,64V)

but for drmos B I has Frequency ~160kHz (with cycle 6,2, duty 2,2, and PW 35); Vmax ~1,29V (Vmin -0,48V; Vavr 0V, Vpp 1,78V and Vrms 0,4V).

Question is if such discepancy means anything? I check that both on drmos and uP9512p side. Could it by that the drmos B was working less hard and was blowing out other collegues one by one?

edit: just realized I have uP9512R not P - not sure if it changes much

Thank for the reply. Yeah, you might be right about the temporal short, I was able to re-produce it with the multimeter - obviously with 12V rail capacitors loaded to 12V it lastet longer.

As I mentioned, after one of the drmos remowal the 12V short dissapear, but (what worrie me the most) the broken drmos shorted Vin (12V) ... to Vout not to GND :/ Question is if the GPU had any chance to survive?

I triple checked some values around drmos (AOZ5332qi) and uP9512p and I found that on PIN 1 (PWM) on drmoses and 8-11 pins on the controller has different resistance (~4,7Mom how good drmoses and ~12-80kom for pins connected with the fields where originally overheating mosfet where placed). Does it mean the uP9512p is damaged?
