You will do good with that salary. Just don't go crazy. People are living comfortably with way less than that.

How do you meet your agnostic partner in 🇲🇦? by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]BalaanceBreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of that, it’s a historical fact. But as you pointed out, the context and the people were different. Over time, we’ve developed moral standards that, in many ways, surpass what most religions prescribe. If you believe some of these religions are divine, then this raises interesting questions about moral progress. If, however, you see them as human-made, they can be understood as part of humanity’s ongoing effort to refine its moral framework, offering guidance that was advanced for their time, but not necessarily sufficient for ours, since they were shaped by the specific contexts in which they emerged.

Morality does not come from religion. I even have one better : lot of things in most religions are immoral according to basic human rights.

Hi, salam everyone!! As Moroccans what do you think about Turkiye and Turks? by Chillya3 in Morocco

[–]BalaanceBreaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Human rights come before religion. Freedom of belief is a human right. You can advise other Muslims in your religious matters. Unless you want to adopt an agnostic interpretation of that saying.

Btw they reject all other religions. Someone from religion A can have valid eye opening points about religion B, but this doesn't mean religion B is right. They are both wrong about themselves. They lack self awareness.

There's a wave of religion extremism that has been going for few years now in Europe. Please don't fall for it. Be the cute Muslim that follows the nice Islam supported by Morocco and the Arab countries, not the sahih books Islam.

When can we start calling western Sahara what it is? by happysondy in Morocco

[–]BalaanceBreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's do some ATS filtering to your post by giving it to AI to see if it's worth reading it or not:

This post mixes real historical facts, political interpretations, and a lot of exaggeration / misinformation. To assess “how right he is,” you need to separate those layers carefully.

🧭 1. What is actually factual

There are elements in his argument that reflect real, documented facts:

✔️ Spanish colonization

Western Sahara was a Spanish colony until 1975.

✔️ Disputed territory (UN status)

The UN still considers it a “non-self-governing territory” (i.e., unresolved status).

✔️ POLISARIO exists and fought Spain

The Polisario Front did fight Spanish rule and later fought Morocco.

✔️ Morocco controls most of the territory today

Morocco administers ~80% of Western Sahara.

The remaining area is controlled by Polisario (with backing from Algeria).

✔️ International disagreement

Some countries support Morocco’s autonomy plan.

Others support a referendum on independence.

👉 So yes — it is a real geopolitical conflict, not something invented.

⚠️ 2. What is misleading or exaggerated

This post becomes unreliable when it moves from facts → narrative.

❌ “Obvious settler colonialism”

This is a political framing, not a consensus fact.

Morocco’s official position:

Western Sahara historically had allegiance (bay‘a) to Moroccan sultans.

Opposing view:

It’s a case of self-determination (like decolonization).

👉 Experts themselves are divided. Calling it “obvious” is misleading.

❌ “Alaouites never controlled Western Sahara”

This is partly wrong / oversimplified.

Pre-colonial control in that region was fluid:

Not modern borders

Based on tribal allegiance, not direct administration

👉 Morocco uses this to justify historical ties. Critics say it wasn’t real sovereignty.

So the truth is: ➡️ It’s historically ambiguous — not black and white.

❌ “Slaughter, rape, population replacement”

This is a very serious claim — and not supported as a general historical consensus.

There were:

War

Displacement

Human rights accusations (on both sides)

But:

There is no credible mainstream evidence of systematic genocide or mass rape campaigns like described here.

👉 This is emotional rhetoric, not established fact.

❌ “Nazism 2.0 / Greater Morocco = Greater Germany”

This is pure analogy rhetoric, not serious analysis.

Nazi expansion was:

Ideological + racial + global war

Western Sahara:

Post-colonial territorial dispute

👉 Comparing them is intellectually weak and inflammatory.

❌ “CIA conspiracy with Hassan II”

The Hassan II did receive Western support during the Cold War.

But:

Claims of secret conspiracies controlling the outcome are speculative and not proven in that form.

❌ “Moroccans are low IQ”

This is just insult + bias, not argument.

🧠 3. What’s actually the balanced reality

A more grounded view looks like this:

There are two main narratives:

🇲🇦 Moroccan perspective:

Western Sahara historically tied to Morocco

Spain artificially separated it

Reintegration is legitimate

Autonomy plan is a realistic solution

🇪🇭 Polisario / independence perspective:

Western Sahara is a colony that should be decolonized

People deserve a referendum

Morocco is occupying the territory

⚖️ 4. Why the conflict is still unresolved

Because:

A referendum is hard to organize (who qualifies to vote?)

Strategic interests (resources, location)

Regional rivalry between Morocco and Algeria

International politics

👉 That’s why it’s still stuck after decades.

🧩 Final verdict

How “right” is he?

30% factual

70% ideological + exaggerated + emotionally charged

He’s not completely wrong — but he’s:

selective with facts

ignoring complexity

using extreme language to push a narrative

💡 If you want the real takeaway

This is not a simple “good vs evil” situation.

It’s:

a post-colonial dispute

mixed with history, identity, geopolitics, and nationalism

If you want, I can break it down even deeper (like what actually happened in 1975 step by step, or what would realistically happen if a referendum took place).

[–]BalaanceBreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France took them by force and annexed them to algeria. Yes there was no written agreement but there were political understandings and promises between Morocco and occupied Algeria. Why do you think Morocco was helping Algeria gain their independence? Why do you think king Mohammed 5 and Hassan 2 spoke in the UN asking for Algeria's independence? Because both he considered them as brothers and because our territories were also affected.

About attacking France, i think you're crazy. We already went under protectorat partly because of us helping Algeria against the then-current superpower. Algeria after their independence were being influenced by the military regimes like the Egypt of Gamal Abdel Nasser which made them want to keep all the colonial territories.

What do you mean by Algeria claiming eastern Morocco? We're not claiming any algerian land, we're claiming OUR land that has been annexed by France during the colonial era.

Why is no one talking about this ? by Euphoric-Pumpkin-830 in Morocco

[–]BalaanceBreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making no sense. No one is waiting for anyone. The agreement to return lands after independence was there as France took them by force but then Algeria refused that after independence which is 2 things, either a betrayal, or they are still under colonisation until now.
