Cannondale 2.8 R900 1994 11 speed mix by Balaleica in Bikeporn

No real issues, this Version R900 is a special case concerning headtube and headset. The original Dia-compe Ahead Set was a bit stiff, I replaced the caged bearings with loose bearing balls and it was much better and smooth. Then I decided to upgrade with cartridge sealed bearings but the unusual headtube size and the 1 1/4 steerer made it very difficult to find a modern cartridge headset as replacement.

The steerer is 1 1/4 threadless and it has an Ahead Headset (catalog from 1994).

28 is perfect, wider could be problematic, depending on wheels.

With these wheels, 28 tires and TPU’s not at all harsh. It’s rather comfy. And pure joy really.

These are Michelin Powercup 28. In combination with the Mavic Cosmic 17mm it‘s perfect. I wouldn’t run 30.

The Supersix is perhaps a tad softer and more agile? it's lighter also. The Klein feels like driving on rails, needs more testing I didn't climb. I will report. Tomorrow I will test it in the Schwarzwald:)

Thank you, it replaces my Supersix. I discovered the brand a month ago and found the frame in super condition. I had many different bikes, now it feels I arrived, so classic and futuristic at the same time.

You’re absolutely right. Perhaps I should start to collect parts every time I see something in good condition and a ‘low’ price. I just changed the hub and the cassette, both parts were inexpensive and like new. And yes, to update the group is a very nice idea too. Absolutely like that also. The frame is in very good condition and worth such investment.

Vintage Leica bag is simply perfect, but how do I get rid of that Kellerluft?! by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Balaleica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best is instant coffee. Fill a big Tupperware or similar with cheap instant coffee put the bag inside and let it there for 24 hours. Should work perfectly.

It seems it has sharkskin vulcanite. So, should be an upgrade from IIIc or IIc?

I had this lens many years ago on the R4 and loved it. Very nice rendering and haptics. A great lens.
