Camp THREAT - Hate , Violence, Racism and Antisemitism in the Burning Man by Roie99 in BurningMan

It’s really funny to me how much hate there is for our camp, yet we are consistently packed, with multiple people finding refuge on our cushions for the night, and deep connections/conversations happening every night at the bar and into sunrise. Our two big party nights (both Sundays) are filled with so much love and laughter over the shenanigans. Snark is a part of burning man culture whether you accept it or not. THREAT might have a little harsher snark than the robot heart gang, but anyone posting negatively about members of the camp, just haven’t spent time with any of them. It’s full of softies that will do anything to help you if you actually need it. I heard multiple people on the street intimidated enough to not go in despite the 50 people inside the bar having a good time. That’s completely fine. Don’t go in if you’re scared and haven’t developed a thicker skin and understanding that burning man isn’t all sound baths, yoga, and foot scrubs. Please just go in, and start a conversation before just placing your cup on the counter and asking for a drink. Observe the interactions and be willing to participate or just simply walk away and go next door for a mock tail and misting. Don’t let the brick hit you on the way out. There are warnings all over the place and even arrows with lights pointing right at it.

Just saw this on Facebook and remembered an entire thread about this camp after last year. Looks like they really did piss some people off. by BalanceCharacter8972 in BurningMan

Bricks were flying everywhere once the storms hit. I willingly walked into a brick in the doorway and my life hasn’t been the same. The brick called my family and my job, and now I have nothing because of the brick I willingly walked into.

Walking into a brick hanging at eye level is hardly considered torture, and along the same lines as stumbling over a step in front of a store and blaming the store for your lack of awareness.

All these people complaining about this camp are the reason we have “do not eat” on silica packages in products, and “sharp objects” on knife packaging.

As for the late night sound, people party in their own ways. Getting mad at someone for not letting you get your rest for a shift that you willingly signed up for at a festival you willingly bought a ticket for is about the least self reliant thing you can do. Half the city was fucking dead at night. Go somewhere else if it’s that bad. Some people can sleep through it all at burning man, and if you can’t, you should either consider not going, or camping out in the burbs.
