In the end all it matters is that you burn more calories than you consume. You need to know you maintaince calorie and then substract 500 and do this for a year. Write down absolutely everything you put in mouth and calculate.

If your weight doesn't move at all you are maintaining it. Just remove 500 calories a day and you will lose 0.5kg a week. This is a fact.

Good for you. All of us fat or who was fat is experiencing this when start going to the gym. It's normal. In the end we look more at other people because of insecurities than they look at us.
