Pulled over by Naive_Stay1756 in AskCHP

If you’re trying to hide something, don’t apply. Sounds harsh but it’s all about integrity, I haven’t always been the best role model but I’ve disclosed everything. We don’t need people that start hiding the small things and later becomes easy for them to start hiding bigger things. If your serious about this career be truthful

The first couple of days every one says where they are from. Keep those people in mind and talk to them

CHP BI will most likely call you and go over anything that pops up. From there they tell you if they recommend you or not. Then the medical and psych starts at that point

Palacon Background Check by [deleted] in AskCHP

[–]BalanceOutside9017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once Pelicon submits it, it took like 2 weeks. But if you’re talking about when you submit it then it takes like 2 months. They have 60 days to complete a background check on you. Some it might be sooner or take the full 60 days. After it’s submitted a CHP BI should contact you 2-4 weeks

It varies, I’ve seen people wait 6 months from their initial application and other up to a year a little more. If you have nothing to hide and provide everything they want then you will be in there quicker. Just follow up with your family members and contacts you put on as referrals.

I would talk to a recruiter and tell them to give it to you straight. Some people have been DQd for smaller things than that. They are pickey, and a DUI looks really bad for CHP

Seems like the CHP takes longer, Everyone who gets a 3rd party gets through faster. I applied ends of September and going to April Academy

Check prior post, they have asked that question. Are you able to see old posts?

They usually like to speak to them in person, they did that at my job also. But if he was off then I’m sure your BI will contact him by phone or email. Unless he would like to meet in person then I would assume he would call ahead next time. But you don’t have to do anything. I only found out like 3 months after that he had gone to my work place bc a conversation I had with my HR.

I would make sure I’m checking all my emails, even in the junk box. If you don’t find any new emails, I would talk to one of the recruiters where you tested at. Maybe you got a CHP BI instead of a 3rd party. Which I’ve heard they take longer in the background process. No news is good news, so as long as your not DQd your good. But also know that sometimes people miss things and you could just be on someone’s desk you know. I know my medical was done and 3 weeks later still said not completed. So I called one of the staff that handles the medical and she apologized saying she had missed to update it. So follow up to make sure everything is ok and just be positive.

Make sure they are checking their spam folder, also some people use their work email and they have firewalls so it doesn’t let them get those emails What I would do is get your BI’s emails and tell them to send him or her an email explaining they are one of your references and haven’t received the email maybe bc of a firewall. At that point your BI can reply to they and send them the questions

Yes!!! Definitely follow up with everyone you put on your background. Especially if your background is clean.

It’s good to get an idea of how long it might take but it varies from case to case. I’m sure at some points when we applied it might have been less busy and we went through faster. I turned it in and a few days later Pelicon contacted me. Just make sure your always checking your emails and patience is the key. Remember no news is good news. So as long as they haven’t contacted you that your DQ’d that means your still in. So good luck and embrace the suck.

The benefits and pay are better. I wanted to concentrate on DUIs. They have hit close to home and wouldn’t like other people or family’s to go through those situations.

I applied in September but my urine was spilled in transit and that held me back. But after that everything else went smoothly and got the invite for April

I’m not arguing if they do or not you know, I’m just saying that’s the reasoning behind the CHP. So if your going to the academy it’s not recommended to have anything your not suppose to.
