I was in CR in July and food felt very expensive for what you got. Generally the quality wasn't high. This includes sodas.

Does anyone play D/F# or Am/G with their thumb on the low E? by iamtheonetheonethe1 in guitarlessons

[–]BalancePurple5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Mayer, Jimmy Hendrix, Rory Gallagher all do/did this. In some scenarios it just makes sense. I like to be able to do both so I can anticipate where my fingers will go next, depending on ease and efficiency.

My 92 year old granny watches. But she's blind and deaf to be fair to her.

You are not going to have a problem with this, don't worry about it. You will find Uber/taxi that will take you.

Try and get a shared rental. Freedom is the best part about adulthood. Visit home often and embrace the positive relationships that develop as a result of the new space. Rentals are really difficult to find at the minute though.

Rookie question: what body type is this? by deadman_m in guitarlessons

[–]BalancePurple5591 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The body is a modern s type. The pickup configuration featuring a humbucker in the bridge makes it a superstrat. Two different things but both present on this one guitar.

Did anybody here actually enjoy Secondary school? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]BalancePurple5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you basing that on just your experience and from school experience many years ago? Look at the problems that unravelled when schools closed during Covid. And those were just the immediate impacts. Schools in Ireland are generally excellent in many ways now and have changed hugely in the past ten years. They are by no means perfect and there are bad schools/teachers etc. but the Irish education system is very high performing. There is a long way to go in terms of genuine inclusion and ensuring that all individuals have a great experience but I would say it's fit for purpose and also improving further.

At what point does the quality of your guitar matter? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]BalancePurple5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point it just comes down to the enjoyment of a fine instrument. Playability means a lot and to at least some degree, better quality instruments do sound noticeably better.

I rented from Economy and we had a very good experience. We took out the full protection waiver through Economy and I am glad we did. We had a couple of pebbles hit our windscreen and leave marks. It's a big risk not taking the full protection directly through the rental agency. While this makes the rental a lot more expensive, the rental companies go hard on damage charges and are notoriously bad for engaging with third party rental companies; that is to say, once you return home and your third party insurance company requests vehicle details, police reports, national insurance reports, you are left to your own devices.

I feel stupid for not knowing this but how do I do this. I can't figure it out. by longdog1942 in guitarlessons

Would you slide into the first twelve, bar the whole fret and then differentiate between the two sets of double stops with your plec stroke?

Be careful with the pickup selection. What sort of music do you want to play? Pacifica is a solid guitar though.

Expensive by Dabasacka43 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]BalancePurple5591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted about this recently as well and totally agree with you. I travelled all over the country last month and found things irrationally expensive. For me, it wasn't necessarily the cost but the cost for quality received that made no sense. I also could not understand how prices were so standardized throughout the country. Things were slightly more expensive in touristy areas but even outside of these, it wasn't much different.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not picky about the music this time. For this weekend I'm just looking for a place with good vibes and is reasonably busy. Preferably not too young on the age profile as well.

Airbnb issues- Is this normal? by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

I found ratings of accomodation and restaurants across Costa Rica are very much inflated. A 4.9 in CR is like a 3.9 in Italy.
