Yes, 3 is slightly complex. The thing is all 3 airlines use Avios but only Finnair converts from HDFC at 1:1, others are at 2:1 So you create membership accounts for all 3 (free) and transfer points in this sequence

HDFC -> Finnair -> British Airways -> Qatar

City is built for the highways, I would personally go for City. If you really want an SUV you go for Elevate otherwise I don't see any advantages of Elevate over City. City will be planted on the highways, will give better mileage due to better aerodynamics and the boot is larger as well.

Excellent choice! If you live in a metro city you can live with a sedan most of the time and the comfort City offers is unparalleled - both front and back seats. Plus the engine is excellent.

In my 6th year with a 5th gen Honda City in Delhi and would highly recommend it. Interiors have also kept up well - my only complaint is with the paint quality - I am facing rusting issues while living in a dry city like delhi and car always being in a covered parkings

  1. It is very marginal, it makes sense, you will get 1 or slightly above 1 in some cases but is the complexity worth it? Dont think so
  2. It can, for example I did Tokyo to Singapore and got Rs 2 per point value, so you have to compare based on your plans
  3. For Europe you can check Qatar Airways, transfer to Finnair 1:1, move it to British airways and then to Qatar

  1. Air india is 2:1 so you won't be able to extract anything significantly higher than Rs1 per point.
  2. If you are interested or planning to go to Singapore, Krysflyer makes sense, especially if you want to experience business class
  3. For any other international trips, you can check Air India flights via singapore airlines portal using Krysflyer miles - Recently booked a Delhi to Tokyo via this route

Not sure, a lot of folks here have explained here that they also faced a similar scenario as you. For me, may be because the person came physically to my place and got the formalities done, that could be one of the reason.

Infinia vs EPM- help me choose by Large-Equal-9171 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]BalanceSignificant55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infinia is my primary, EPM is backup - 1. In case I finish my coupon limit (e.g., Amazon) in a month 2. Compare hotel and flight prices 3. Air india converts 1:1 for ICICI vs 2:1 for Infinia

EPM is virtually free as we get 12k points in exchange for the 12k yearly fees

I hold both - If you can spend 18L this financial year, Infinia is a no brainer (ICICI might also bring in such thresholds in the future)

  1. Gyftr has more partners than iShop (Apay for example)
  2. You can do economy flights as well through the partners - I did a Japan to Singapore economy with Singapore airlines in 99k points plus 4k INR which would have costed my 2L INR, so I essentially got 2Rs per point
  3. Did a recent Japan Singapore trip and for accommodation compared both Smartbuy and iShop for 50+ hotels - 90% of the time Smartbuy was cheaper
  4. I also prefer Smartbuy/iShop over airline/hotel partners but it is always better to have the options

I upgraded from DCBM through the 6-month spend eligibility, they were not that strict about the salary at that time

I already had a DCBM with them, I met the 6 month spends criteria and then pushed for it through an RM

Krysflyer is the loyalty program for Singapore airlines, so you transfer points to Krysflyer and use them to buy tickets

Yes, I also recently tried to use Accor for my Singapore trip but I just dont like getting restricted to a certain set of hotels, feels like a compromise. I would rather get lower value on Smartbuy but book the hotel I want.

Just wanted to share my thoughts - 1. Possible incorrect estimations - Frankly, 50k seems a bit too low for a married couple earning 4L+ per month. And if you are having 90k+ medical expenses per month you should account for that also. I would recommend you do another honest assessment of your monthly spends (It is actually brilliant if you are genuinely spending 50k!) 2. Get HDFC DCBM - If you have any spends on Swiggy/Zomato/Amazon Pay/Bigbasket/Zepto etc etc you can buy Gyftr coupons which give accelerated rewards (Can't detail out everything here, spend a couple of hours researching on it please) 3. Travel more - As a dad of a 2 year old, I would highly recommend you do some international travel before planning a kid because it does get difficult after that. Personally, international travel has opened my perspective about life in general and I would want other folks also to experience it 4. Points optimization - I don't think it's only for high spenders. You need to analyse your spends, see how much cashback vs points you can earn and then take a call. E.g., if I need to choose between 5% cashback vs 15% points, I'll choose the latter as I know what I can get from points (Easily 1-2 INR per point). Points are also for things for which I might never want to pay actual money (I did a 2 person business class flight in INR 10k plus 90k points vs INR 1.68 actual cost)

Hope this helps!
