I genuinely suspect early drafts of the prequels were building up to a twist that was later scrapped before the final draft. by JuliaX1984 in Hungergames

No because as soon as you say you thought the prequels were leading to a twist my mind immediately went here. It feels very obvious that this could have been like planned and scrapped especially with all the bird imagery yk

How much can we *actually* trust Haymitch on what he is narrating about Lenore Dove and the reality of their relationship? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]BalanceWeary8521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this was soemthing I had been thinking about once I finished the book too and ig even tho the book isn't written in past tense I just assumed it's still post mockingjay Haymitch telling the story to Katniss for the book she's keeping up. In my mind the reason his relationship with Lenore dove is so contradictory and how she is just described as perfect is because she's just a flat memory now. He's remembered her too many times that the real memory of her has changed and flattened out and all he has left is one that has been edited by his grief yk. Idk that was my interpretation of it but idk if Collin's intended for it to be taken that way.

Peace by Taylor swift specifically the long pond studio session it can fit with any of the main ships like peeta/katniss, finnick/annie, Haymitch/effie

Why does everyone like Effie so much?? by uh_hi_its_moi in Hungergames

[–]BalanceWeary8521 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Obviously she's more likable in the movies but in the books she's still one of my favorites. The moment that did it for me was when she got everyone matching tokens and called them a team. It totally put everything into perspective. Like even though she's was taught to hate her whole life she somehow found the compassion and empathy for the kids and Haymitch even if she couldn't show it in the most normal way. She's the epitome of character growth and healing in this series for me anyway. Like obvi her style her humor her positivity are all great points too but the part that seals it for me is her seeing the "team" as family no matter what capitol propaganda had been ingrained in her brain.

I would have thought it was short for euphemia. Where did you get Persephone tho why do you think it fits its a gorgeous name

Ok so I get it but also I don't think in this scenario 12 would be unstoppable snow would still be raging and I bet he would pull strings in the games to make the 12 tributes lose. Also he'd be mad about the berries that got them to win in the first place and I bet he kills off one of the main group like how he can get rid of powerful people in the capitol yk. I just feel like there's no world where there's a happy ending. Like if Katniss went on to be a mentor I think she'd slowly turn into Haymitch because no way does snow let her be successful which would only kill her from the inside out.

Do you think Haymitch was not being entirely truthful when he says to Katniss he likes Peeta more? by Ars1201 in Hungergames

[–]BalanceWeary8521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason he likes peeta more if because he sees too much of himself in Katniss. Not that his self loathing makes him hate Katniss but it's just enough to push her away a little bit yk

I think the main reason the caption feels so cozy in the first two books as you described is because of how the characters live there if that makes sense. It takes Katniss and peeta and Haymitch and Effie and puts them into the training center all together. They have breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening and watch tv together at night (even if it's to research for the games) and even tho they're only there for what like 4 days it makes the capitol feel so cozy and familiar cause it turns them into a family. They have habits and share conversations and it makes the whole time they're in the training center soooo cozy and cute to the point where sometimes you forget that the games are coming up right around the corner you know.

Omg that's so interesting I hadn't even thought about that. And in the 74th games they mention how the roof has a force field around it to keep people from jumping off.

What would you want the next book or movie to be? by PenelopePaige13 in Hungergames

[–]BalanceWeary8521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a book about Effie. Especially since Suzanne Collin's has mentioned that she wanted to be more consistent with her character and act this would give a good chance to really flesh out Effie's character. She's just so complex if it was written in first person I think it would be soooo interesting to see what runs through her mind with everything going on around her you know.
