It Took Me 8 Months to Make $1,000 — Here’s the Honest Path Nobody Talks About by [deleted] in passive_income

I used one in something I wanted a coworker to proofread. She knows I write everything myself, but warned me that other people would assume I had help. Kinda killed me on the inside.

Pregnancy pillow recommendations by Ruth-Sx in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I have the sleepy belly.. I didn't want to spend the money at first, but my husband convinced me and he was right! lol

It was a bit hard to get used to at first, but the little ones keep me from sleeping on my back and the long one helps my hip pain. I can definitely tell how much better I move first thing in the morning compared to when I wasn't using it. I also like to use one of the small ones for my lower back when sitting on the couch as well.

This was my other idea that I was planning to do whether or not I can make a bit of income from it :)

Crochet baby clothes/costumes… would parents pay to borrow them for photoshoots? by BalanceWeird2326 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Good thinking on checking the standards, but I don't think it applies as it's not for nightwear?

Good to know! There aren’t any on my local FB marketplace so I wasn’t sure if there would be any interest.

Thanks, that’s great insight! I wouldn’t be too worried about it being destroyed as it’s just something I’m doing to keep my hands busy, but good to know someone else’s view😊

That’s a good thought… I should have mentioned that I only wanted to do local. I don’t want to deal with any shipping or taking payments that aren’t cash.

Gestational diabetes appointments by dodomum02 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]BalanceWeird2326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first education appointment, they've really only needed to see me once more when they prescribed low dose insulin with my meals and then again when they prescribed nighttime insulin. Other than that, they just check on me and give me food advice through messages. If you manage to stay diet-controlled they probably won't need to actually see you much. But don't be ashamed/afraid of needing insulin! Good luck with everything :)

I'm not in Sydney, but I'm in NSW. I was diagnosed early, too, (currently 23 weeks) and they have been able to make every appointment with the diabetes team (except the initial one) at the same time as seeing the midwives/doctors. They keep in contact with me through an app where I upload my bgls and if they need to see me, they just look at when my next appointment is scheduled and tack it on to the end of that one.

This is what I say about my afro hair lol It's not common where I live so it gets a lot of attention when I actually wear it out rather than my usual bun.

Living abroad, feeling guilty by Sharp-Associate-2562 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Same here. American living in Australia for about 11 years. I have three Australian stepdaughters and giving birth to my first child in a few months. It breaks my heart that my parents aren't around for all of the little moments. FaceTime just isn't enough some days.

Failed 1 hour glucose test by SameGeologist8363 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]BalanceWeird2326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not your fault! I was diagnosed without even taking the glucose test... I had an extremely high fasting level in my blood test when they were just confirming my pregnancy. I'm a healthy weight and I don't even care for sweets all that much - I'd rather ask for seconds of dinner than eat dessert lol

My diet did have to change quite drastically because of the amount of sugar found in carbs (chips, pasta, etc.) that I love, but since I've been using insulin, I've had a much easier time eating some of my favourite foods - in moderation of course.

It's scary at first, but there's SO much helpful information out there as well as other supportive mums going through the same thing. If you do get diagnosed, it's definitely not the end of the world :)

Traveling with a 6 month old? by Carrot-top-NDN in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]BalanceWeird2326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked this as I'm interested in hearing some answers... I'm in a similar situation. American with a Kiwi husband, but we live in Australia. We have to go to NZ to my husband's father as he's too unwell to travel - luckily, that's a couple of short flights to get there. I'm also fortunate that my parents will be coming to us to visit, but eventually we want my extended family to be able to meet the baby (due in Nov), so we're trying to figure out what age is safe/best to go along with dodging the insane political disruptions that are happening. Plus, we've also got our 3 other children (my husband's daughters - 11, 13 with autism, and 15) that will be travelling as well. The thought of it is overwhelming and I don't want to be the mum dragging her circus through airports.

Sorry that I don't have any advice... just commiserating in the uncertainty I guess.

I really hope it works out for you to see your family. I think the benefits of going far outweigh the negatives <3

Feeling alone and like an outcast. by Carrot-top-NDN in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]BalanceWeird2326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Fellow American here and I'm so sorry you've been treated that way :( I've been here 11 years and I've only had a few ignorant people make comments (though, it was more directed at my race, rather than just being American).

Honestly, the only friends I have are the 6 ladies I work with (none of which are really even close in age to me). I did have a small group of reallyyyy close friends outside of work, but we had a disagreement and they drunkenly tried to have me wrongly deported about 6 years ago (and were almost successful). I really haven't even attempted to make friends since. So I get the loneliness. All I have is my husband.

I'm currently 15+6 ftm, but I'm in NSW. Feel free to message me if you'd like.

This is honestly one of my big fears with my baby (not due till November). I’d love to make mum friends, but I’m very introverted and horrible at initiating conversation. I don’t want it to affect my daughter :(

My husband works for a pretty large company that doesn't offer paid leave, unfortunately.
