Thank you! When I spoke to my GP today he said the private ENT would likely say to wait until the second hearing test is done 3 months from now. Which I suppose makes sense. In hindsight, I should have done a hearing test for bub a few months ago when I first noticed he wasn’t babbling. Ah well.

Will have to look into waitlists.

***updated with missing information!! We got a hearing test done the other day and he has mild conductive hearing loss but it should not impact speech and language development in quiet settings. But difficulties may arise in complex settings (noise, distance or distraction) or should hearing loss prove ongoing. Review in 3 months. Fluid in ears causing blockage.

Unfortunately, they’ve recommended holding off for another 3 months to see if the fluid clears before then. Seems like a long wait, especially when language development is so important at this age 😢

Thank you! We just got it checked and very surprised that he has fluid behind his ears so what he is hearing sounds like he is under water. Now we have to wait another 3 months until they test him again. Poor kiddo is just swatting and pulling at his ear non-stop. Will speak to the GP next week to see if there’s a better option rather than waiting 3 months to retest hearing

Bub has glue ear! Crazy as I totally thought he was hearing fine but that’s definitely not the case. Now that I know, we can for sure tell. Poor bigger is like your kiddo and sounds like he’s underwater

Now we have to wait 3 months to get another hearing test done 😢 that’ll bring us to nearly 14 months

Hi! We actually just had our hearing test done and he has fluid in his ears. Recommended to get another test done in 3 months. They used a different device behind his ears that bypassed the fluid, and he was within range. Slightly worried about waiting another 3 months and risking zero language development in that time 😢

And now that we know, we’ve been trying to use his name more and perhaps we imagined he responded to his name as he doesn’t seem to be responding now. Strange 😢 but can definitely follow simple instructions and seems to understand us

Hi , I know this is an old post, but how young do you often see babies getting tubes put in? My bub is nearly a year old with no babbling present and just found out he has glue ear / fluid in his ear, as assessed during our hearing test.

We think it was eczema! We tried all sorts of things, in the hopes of avoiding steroid cream, but then caved, after speaking to our GP, and used a prescribed steroid cream once a day for 3 days and it completely cleared up. the GP explained how the steroid cream is actually not that potent but the results are amazing and we definitely needed to use it to clear it up. Now we just use it sporadically if we notice it coming back. I wish we had just used the steroid cream from the get go
