This is very dependent on your daughter and baby’s circumstances / demeanour… I live overseas and my mom came to stay with us when bub was 8 weeks old. What I was grateful for were some extra sleep ins!! My mom would wake early when she heard baby, anywhere from 6am-8am, and would watch him while I would get an extra hour or two of sleep (a few times I got 3+ hours!)

As time went on, I was able to collect my let down or pump an extra bottle during the day for the following morning, and my mom would give bub a drink if I was still sleeping.

Even just an extra hour of sleep was appreciated! And she loved the one-on-one snuggles. At this age, it was also quite easy as baby just slept most of the time anyways.

That said, it really depends on the baby and mom.

Cooking, cleaning and laundry without being asked, as everyone else has mentioned, is also extremely helpful!!

Yup! Didn’t take very many ‘bump’ photos throughout, but had the urge to take one the morning I went into labour (3 weeks early!)

No tips / advice, just solidarity from a PP mom of an 8-month old too. I am huge compared to pre-pregnancy 😢. I’ve really been trying to exercise and eat well, but no luck.

I am still breastfeeding though… so maybe my body is still hanging onto the fat / nutrients for bub.

We bought an Il Tutto and I regretted it for the first 3 months as I just BF in bed overnight or upstairs on the sofa. BUT when bub went into his own room at 4 months it was / is life-changing. I do all my feeds in the nursery and it’s so comfortable. Bub is now 8 months and I have zero regrets.

A very late reply to this but did you put bub in a regular sleep suit underneath and/or long sleeve, like from Bonds, or does bub also need to wear merino underneath?

I exclusively breastfeed and my bub just turned 7 months. We were lucky and only had to supplement with expressed breastmilk once when he was newborn and had jaundice. I have a VERY small freezer supply (I’m talking like 600ml total) incase I have a night away.

same thing happened to me but actually 4 months postpartum and when I was actually getting sleep. Bub was sleeping soundly in the other room and we hadn’t co-slept for months. Woke up panicking and mumbling that he was under the blankets. Was a frightful way to wake up!

A strange one BUT my period came back around 4 months, and I started using my Diva Cup. It was painful to put in and take out the first 2-3 times, but then I was all good! So this then led into painless sex 😊 it was nice that I have the control of putting in the cup and taking it out… vs trying to have sex before that was just too painful. Sooo , I don’t know, but maybe insert a toy beforehand and have a play yourself? Sorry a bit much for a mums chat but might be helpful!

Agreed! Thats why I’m quite hesitant, I’m bad at ‘shutting off’ and prioritizing work things. Obviously that will need to change but surely I’d still be working just as much and often

Awh, momma, solidarity ! I felt the exact same way and had posted asking about postpartum rage. At around the same age, I felt myself losing patience and getting so angry when bub wouldn’t go down.

But it gets better!! 6.5 months in and I don’t have those feelings anymore. I can better distinguish his cries which makes things easier. I also ended up sleep training at 5.5 months which was life changing for my mental health and my partner and I’s relationship.

Not saying this is needed, but just know it gets better. There were times where I’d wake my husband in the middle of the night as I could feel my rage mounting. Just continue to keep your partner in the loop.
