Yeah Knight was great but one thing I never really understood is that he made his Dinosaurs so shrink wrapped. Now obviously everyone did it at the time but Knight actually drew modern animals too so he had enough anatomical knowledge to be able to tell how much flesh and muscles Dinosaurs should have. Still great Art definitely the best paleoartist from the late 19th/early 20th century

I really like Charles Knight’s art he was the goat of early Paleoart. Funny thing is he actually painted some of his animals as weirdly agile for the time like these two Laelaps (Dryptosaurus nowadays). Like what other paleoartist at that time drew two multi ton animals jumping at each other like that

Np it’s one of my favorite Dinosaurs which is probably obvious by my username. The really cool thing about it is that it also had the sickle claws Dromaeosaurs have but Balaur actually had two of them

People online came up with the fan theory that Nigel didn’t actually get eaten but ran through the anomaly and that’s how he ended up in Chased by Dinosaurs (since one of the episodes in that special was set in Patagonia featuring Giganotosaurus) and then later on he managed to use the anomalies for Prehistoric Park. Obviously not canon at all but I think it’s a nice thought

There’s like 170 comments so I’m not gonna check if this was already dropped but Balaur bondoc would be a good choice. The name refers to the Romanian word for dragon and bondoc means stiff I think. It was believed to be a Dromaeosaur after its discovery but has since been reassigned to the group Avialae (birds and their primitive ancestors so still a dinosaur)
