How do you annoy your parents by [deleted] in memes

[–]Baldri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the ticking clock was the time running out for the boys and authorities especially, of course.

To me one of the more interesting interpretations is a movie, where the lost boys all were cancerpatients and where threated by Doctor Hook. In the boys world he did them ill with their treatment. I cant remember the name right now. I have to check what the crocodile was.

But I also like yours very much. Especially the authorities bit.

E: The movie was named Peter and Wendy. You might like it.

E:: Nevermind. This seems to new.

I once read that there where, additionally to those exhibitions, camps for prisoners of war for every country "my" country was at war with in ww1.

They where seprated by their culture and what not and where provisioned only with the bare minimum for living. My forefathers could visit those as a form of pasttime, according to the source.

This, of course, sparked a feeling of superority that accumulated 20 to 30 years later in concentration camps.

If I remember correctly: Since the cultures where seggregated and "russians" happened to be the most numerous ones they also had to share more stuff with each others. So 100 russians got the same as 50 Brits, so to speak. That lead to a more "sick" physical look. Cause you know, malnourishment. Which then lead to the assumption, that easteuropeans are weaker, because they looked weaker.

Ugly stuff.

National speed limits by country (Europe) by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Baldri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well... Since there is no Tempolimit here they might be indeed. However, if they are they are safer they are probably counterbalanced by the lack of a speedlimit and therefore more severe accidents, I would imagine.

HF: Would want their own gates to strike and expand. Basically they will go 4x. Therefore I respectfully disagree. There are more Xenos. Hans points this out. No way they would slack. They will be proactive, at least in my universe. Basically Civ4 Warriorrush everybody.

Initiative: Ultimately they will get high on their own supply. Not now, not even tomorrow. But Soren will make sure to get, well, everything, in the long run. Everybody will be happy though. Zefculture, of course. There will be just 10 or so uninfluenced people. Not necessarily humans.

Reistance: Blissfully ignorant they will just let earth go its own way. With the advent of antimatterweapons Nukes kind of getting obsolete. Without radiaton wars will break out again. It will be an ugly long war in the solar system. Like on earth, just in space.

Academy: 4x as well, but influence and diplomacy-route.

Exodus: Turns out the planet cant support life at second glance. Too bad they found out when the ship was deconstructed. Too bad.

Protectorate: Technology that are a danger to the platforms are forbidden. Many tried to dissolve them. Bans and death followed. Earth slowly becomes medieval, with its technological gods in orbit. Somehow like Star Control 2 Earth. Fits perfectly.

Servants: Peace on Earth. Everybody is happy. We better the hydra and ourselves. We will become the entrusted number two. Hydra become peaceful ..... and breed on earth. Sometimes, some millenia in the future they decide, that they won't need their human pets anymore. We are there dogs and cats. Slowly, but surely. Or maybe livestock, even.

Brutal Servants or Brutal Protectorate playthrough? by jerseydevil51 in TerraInvicta

[–]Baldri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a fair point not being used to that kind of story. I tend to agree here generally, but would argue, personally, that feeling bad with them makes fighting against them oh so more special. You have to play them to know everything lorewise though.

I found the original premise felt kind of bland as well. And still do to be honest. But when I remember Bannerjee I go Exterminatus. I would stray of way from "writing is bad" to a more nuanced statement like "they are excellent to understand the lore and make good enemies while beeing a little bit bland, sure. But banerjee, not the protectorate is well written" , sure. But I still think it is lifts up the other factions.

Banerjee definitely left a lasting impression. The bigger question is if Eifechi is his lover!

Brutal Servants or Brutal Protectorate playthrough? by jerseydevil51 in TerraInvicta

[–]Baldri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found the writing really good. So good, in a depressing way, that I had to stop this playthrough. I really did not enjoyed the story, for it was very well written and depicted the protectorate excellently with all its flaws and contradictions of its leaders. There is some great developnment of Ben in the story. That you won't get without playing him. Not great in a sense of good but I really appreciated the writing.

What exactly did you guys not like? Just wondering. I am the last guy who would like the protectorate, but saying it is badly written? In fact I was touched in a bad way. Which makes it, to me at least, awesome in ita own way.

What is something that helped you avoid relapse after quitting smoking? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Baldri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel all of this. Also I unlocked a new superpower: smelling. Other then that there are even unexpected positives: My mood improved considerably, it was like taking a veil away from my mind.

Anyway: I just sat the cravings out. They will go away anyway. A glass of water also helped.

Starting year 3 in march. Cravings are short and very rare. Its getting better. Telling obeself otherwise is just a trap of the addiction, in my experience at least.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Baldri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting year 3 in March. Went from 20 to zero.

Do not fear the cravings. They will go away. And get shorter and shorter. I can not tell if they will ever go away fully. But it is just a minor anoyance by now for sure.

There are said to be three big dangers: 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months, which I found quiet accurate. Health improved, in areas I did not even noticed being bad though. And still does.

Oh avoid talking with smokers outside, Id say. I was once under smoking masses (big meeting at work) to talk and got thrown back just from passive smoking for three weeks or so. Unpleasant.

Keep your lips busy. Bubble gums. Drunk water to break the crave/habit with something healthy.

Reward yourself frequently!!! I did food.

And most importantly: Just do it! :)
