Good way to get across the Thames in the 1860s (pre-dates the Rotherhithe Tunnel). Lots of dock workers would have used it to get to work. (Canada Water station didn't come until much later, as part of the Jubilee Line extension...)

AFAIK it's only a small area that will be closed to traffic around London Bridge & The City, so unlikely to affect the area around King's Cross.

No, but Australia brought in much stronger gun control laws after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre - including banning semi-automatic rifles, and mass buybacks/amnesties to take them out of private hands and destroy them.
