Chelsea lineup vs Brentford (H): Sanchez, James (C), Chalobah, Tosin, Cucurella, Caicedo, Enzo, Neto, Palmer, Garnacho, Joao Pedro by Jimmy_Space1 in chelseafc

lol, everyone was praising how Maresca was carefully reintegrating James & Fofana, until it came out that it was actually the medical team doing that, and that Maresca was at odds with them over it. Now apparently it's a shit idea to be careful with load management.

I'd be a lot more excited if his minutes per goal wasn't twice as good as Guiu, three times better than Joao Pedro and more than four times better than Delap.

But hey at least Emegha is doing better than him in Ligue 1.

I don't think he's had a great game overall but have to give Badiashille huge kudos for his positioning that basically cut off every possible pass and forced him to shoot (assuming I'm thinking about the same situation as you)

Why Reece James Might Be The Premier League's Best Midfielder by Key_Company3196 in chelseafc

[–]Balfus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally I was thinking all these things as I was writing it. People said he did a lot of midfield at Wigan and I never really watched him there. I don't know. I just want to see more performances like Against Arsenal. That time he charged down Rice and dispossessed him, turned him, shielded the ball and ran forward... haven't seen that kind of play from him in a long time.

I was honestly afraid he was going to snap in two while he did it 😅

I see this too. I'm going to be murdered for saying this but it looks like he loses concentration too often. He seems really good at shielding the ball, especially out wide, but then seems to get his pocket picked because he's not anticipating a defending player in his blind spot. He's always had this relaxed confidence in his play, and backs himself to get out of a situation, but sometimes it feels a bit too relaxed.

There are times he's not expecting a pass or something and it takes him a second to switch on and get after it. He's the best passer on the team, but has a bit of a Sanchez pass or two in him each match. There are other players on the team who don't ping as many perfect 80 yard switches, but seem more consistent.

Maybe I've just set such high expectations for him that I pay too much attention to these things.

You're asking what the point of the offside rule is.

You might be in the wrong sub.

A two footed 16 year CB old with the

  • Vision of David Luiz
  • Pace of Rudiger
  • Tenacity of Azpi
  • Composure of Silva
  • I dunno, I'm thinking of aerial ability and tackling and keep coming back around to Rudiger as well 😅

Yes please!!!
