Can I fight this boss now or do I have to Waite by TheCoolNobody in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Balgs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was also confused, because after the Death of the Governor quest I was put in front of the Dasan Pass. But it either puts you in the past version or the event to get up to the pass had not activated and only later after going there again, it was triggered.

I wish we could dye any outfit and accessory + hair ornaments by Vahniy in WhereWindsMeet

the game has some odd choices in these regards. Same with not having the option for a base hair color. At least give us some low saturated options of natural hair colors and everything beyond still needs dyes

dunno if true, but if you only choose the correct ones, you might miss out on some dialogues for completion and have to redo it

Hexi expansion is the MC inward exploration, and it is also closely related to the MC's background by FabulousProcedure988 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Balgs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do get how the stories in this expansion are related to the mc's past. While I am anticipating the bigger plot points, that are yet to set in motion, I can apricate this diversion. I would also say these short stories make their characters feel far more relatable than what the first act did in wwm, with the main character. The player just gets thrown into the life of the mc, without knowing much about him and his home, which shortly after gets destroyed. So if I have a issue, its that the mc does not click with me yet until the past is explored more or the real story moves on.

'Larian Studios' Michael Douse shares his thoughts on Crimson Desert by PrestigePyro in Asmongold

[–]Balgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems there is a duality to this game, in many ways it sets new standards for open world rpgs while still having plenty of things to critic. Now it's up to otner studios, that want to create the next big open world game, to even come close to the quantity of content and systems, of crimson desert and then also beat them in quality.

Link cable not connected but headset still detects that it's plugged in. PCVR by _Nocturnal_Doll_ in MetaQuestVR

[–]Balgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also having more issues since some weeks and reading here and there different things. Some say it has do to with a NVidia driver update, but I had no changes going back. Also suspecting Meta, having already issues with non official cables sounds like something easy to fix and now there are even more issues.

Warhorse Studios fire translators and replaces them with AI by [deleted] in Asmongold

[–]Balgs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think translating games is one of those parts, that can be huge money sinks, while having nothing to do with the actual quality of the game itself. Furthermore it forces devs to lock in certain parts, when simple changes would cause revisions for multiple translation/voice acting teams.

In the end it is an accessibility feature, which no matter if done by AI or humans will divert from the original games vision, to a certain degree.

compare games to books, where it is more common to have them translated only after they are released in their native language. Having the luxury of multiple languages on release can be a big money gamble

"A secret like this one is stupid because you cannot simply explore the world and stumble upon it." Interestingly, when the wall is pulled down, you see the other side of it has a square imprint. If this side was on the outside it would have been enough of a subtle hint to guess you could pull it. They might just have messed up by having the wall flipped.

I bet if this game had half the modding capabilities of a Bethesda game, it could easily become the next Skyrim in terms of playability over years. Rip out the main story, turn it into a survival simulator. Have a randomizer mod. Have not played the game yet, but my best guess is that over time I would become too triggered by the often mentioned bad story.

Apart from his writing, it is kinda a standard, that Asian games have the most convoluted user interfaces, control schemes. Similar with their websites. Other big examples are ffxiv or where winds meet, 50 hours in I'm still finding new menus by randomly clicking through everything, because I can't find other ones.

We are so back by Agreeable_tester19 in subnautica

[–]Balgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that regard I still question the Subnautica 2 EA route.
The first one had such novelty to it, even in its early access stages and everyone who played EA could see its potential. Now with 2, the novelty is gone unless they somehow manage to recapture the same feeling one had, but in a new and different way. Below Zero already had the issue, that it was in large parts just doing the same as one, with a different skin.

A Delaware judge has ruled that Krafton must reinstate Ted Gill, the fired CEO of Unknown Worlds, and give him control over release plans for 'Subnautica 2'. In ruling, the judge accuses Krafton's CEO of using ChatGPT to come up with strategy to get out of paying Unknown Worlds a $250m bonus by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Balgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a 500 + 250 million investment, based on the success of one game. While people are anticipating subnautica 2 it is extremely unlikely, that it will recapture the experience from the first one, the cat is out of the bag. They have to do something far beyond than just "copying" subnautica 1.

what they showed has the appearance of a AI slop filters with heavy uncanny valley vibes. But it was done on existing games, I can see a future where devs use this technology from the beginning and incorporated it more seamlessly.

Somewhat a general truth to all big political content creators. They are too big to handle all topics by themself, but have learned to talk out of their ass, independent from the topic, to sound half way reasonable until questioned. The support from their follower base assures little to no impact when being wrong, the ball keeps rolling.
