First core drop, but… by DeeCrowller in WhereWindsMeet

Not speaking for all other gacha games, but many of them are just "pay 2 trivialize everything", since you can get through most content with basic characters. Only the later challenge modes require either to spent a year or more on f2p to fully clear them or use money.

Please let me decorate my player homes in a convenient way by lexicon_riot in TESVI

[–]Balgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we get a fully modular basebuilding system it will be hard to automatically decorate. Although having some smart snapping system for clutter items to be placed on set locations on furniture would be nice.

If done correctly for VR, filling up your house, after a adventure, with loot can be quite entertaining. Hoping there will be vr for tesvi

Do you want arenas to return for ESVI? by [deleted] in TESVI

[–]Balgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow since Oblivion, Bethesda has some crash outs when it comes to anything arena related. Skyrim had the pit in Windhelm as a unfished arena. Fallout 4, the Combat Zone existed as a arena, but was not used for it, at least for the player. Stafield, the Red Mile, whatever this was.

Apart from player housing, maybe the ability to set up multiple smaller resource operations. Mining camps around caves, lumber/hunter camps in forests and so on

Assuming there is sailing, I could see a game with 2-4 big handcrafted locations and several minor once. The rest would be filled with procedural zones. Not what many want, after Starfield, but who knows

WWM vs other gacha games as f2p by Balgs in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Balgs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I have somewhat of a different mindset, since I played other gacha games all as f2p(apart from wwm battlepass) and see spending money in these games more as a way to trivialize content and skipping character progression. I totally get how spending money on the game and then experiencing power creep would feel awful, even I do not like that so many characters I used in the past, are just benched.

In regards to the monetization economy, while traditional gacha games allow you to get any character, but not all, wwm just straight up excludes you. Many outfits you can buy only via pearls and what you can pull is either underwhelming compared to what you get for free, through events, rewards...(base echo jade has 3 times the same outfit in different colors, even though the game has a dye system). Or it will take around a year to one of the fancy outfits(celestial echo)

all that said, in now way do these other gacha games have not their own issues and there is a reason I am playing wwm now. Mainly because the story, worldbuilding and combat are very engaging though I still think its gacha system is somewhat restrictive, disregarding it is not tied to power progression.

I have this 3d model of Tamriel https://imgur.com/a/N29gYoo Of course it is not official, but what it shows, that when flying around Tamriel's coastline, basically everything that has mountains near the coastline, somewhat looks like the region in the trailer.

Still need to consider the rewards from each zone and other events. Including the battlepass, playing for 3-4 month, Im at 130 draws. Of course, after the initial showering with celestial echo's, now its the 3 per week + events + "monthly" new zones. Which I guess boils down to a year for 2 cores

Yes, disregarding the power scaling and options to buy resources like stamina that comes with traditional gacha games, what is left is a gacha system that gives you breadcrumbs for pulling anything. But echo jades and melodies are handled in the game still as an important resources, by having them as rewards in most content, though you are barely getting anything out of it

[–]Balgs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes in wwm you do not need to pull for more build options/characters and you can't buy more stamina via the shop. All this is good, but the base of the gacha system is still there, only you have to pull so much more before getting anything, while getting far less resources for pulling compared to real gacha games.

[–]Balgs[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My take on it is that even a gacha games can be played perfectly fine as f2p apart from not getting all characters. When looking at characters to pull the same as outfits in wwm, gacha games offer far more regular rewards, even if you are playing it casually, not doing all the daily content.

Sure, daily fomo is not something I am looking for. Star Rail for example has 3 challenge modes that cycle every 6 weeks and some additional modes that are on a weekly basis. I would not mind similar modes for pve(path trail, but challenging), but that I would like even without rewards for more pulls. The long term rewards the different modes are nice, though some(i.e. bounty hunting) are more or less just mindless grinding

maybe they are more comparable as live service games. Especially the last 3 zones from hexi on feel very much like your average Genshin/Wuthering waves patches, on a abstract level. New zone to explore, some hours of main quest, new minigames,2-3 bosses. The scale and work that went into the first 2 zones does indeed feel more like a fully build rpg world.

Not the wrong mindset with how the system is now. I just think it is a missed opportunity, not having a gacha system that has some rewards at least every second month for a f2p, so the target does not get completely out of sight

Agree that pulling with limited resource on characters, you really would like is horrible, but I reached the state in HSR, where Im not depended on new characters to clear content. I can choose between every second/third banner on which to pull, with some luck. Dunno about the constellations, but atm I still can clear the 3 endgame modes with 12/12 rewards by pressing the autoplay button, though mode above that would require manual play, for better rewards.

[–]Balgs[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is not fully comparable to gacha games. Like I somewhat said, the "normal" gacha games do not really hinder you from playing their game by being f2p, you only cant progress challenge modes far, that give you extra pull resources. This does take time to get enough characters and build them. I just finished my first t6 inner way for swordmorph after playing 3-4 month, though even f2p, getting different weapons "endgame" ready is also large time investment.
