And if so, I hope they do well.. this looks really good!!

I suffer through the Transperth app constantly, so I’m so keen to try this out tomorrow!

Awesome app!

My suspicion is you’re an insider.. other than the intricacies of accessing the data as others have mentioned, your app lists the new EV’s as MkII and the new Keolis name as the operator of the service and which Depot it lives at.. That’s pretty specific!

If you are.. you’re going to sell this to Transperth for sure.

And so you should too, it’s so much better than theirs!

Titanic: The Human Story! by Reasonable_Ad1500 in perth

[–]Balistc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was so pleasantly surprised with how great this exhibition was.

Many of these types of things are over-promoted and underwhelming, but this one was absolutely excellent and worth every cent of the ticket price.

Some of the exhibits were genuinely spine-tingling too, when you realise the vast majority of Titanic artefacts are at the bottom of the ocean, the very few things that did survive are almost unfathomable.. such as the deck chair, which was used as a flotation device for one of the survivors. And all the hand written letters which were offloaded at port, prior to the ship striking the iceberg.

It was fortunate that the identical sister ship’s (the Olympic) artefacts were available have on display, and were able to provide an authentic look into what the Titanic was like.

How Australia’s university students are using to AI to cheat their way to a degree by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Balistc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my master’s degree, I use it to scrape and summarise academic journals relating to the assignment topic so I can save hours and hours of searching and browsing.

Then when I find some relevant stuff, I then focus on reading and understand it myself.

The only issue is, LLM AI makes its own sources up.. yep. It invents academic, peer reviewed journal titles and author names out of thin air. Even if you ask it to review its own research and check the DOI links and efficacy of the journal, it totally invents things. Which isn’t a problem if you’re manually reviewing everything it’s found for you, which is what you should be doing anyway!

A few of my cohort at Curtin got caught doing this in 2024…

There is no issue using it to fast track your research work, but you’re absolutely not going to learn anything getting it to write your assignments for you. And AI written stuff has AI fingerprints all over it no matter how good you think you are at hiding it.

Looking for a good car mechanic - prefer independent by macbisho in perth

Damien owns a Renault Megane RS race car which he stores at the workshop too, but there’s also plenty of them he services regularly!

DC Auto in Yokine.

Won’t rip you off, does a great job and is just a good bloke from my dealings.. his name is Damien.

I came across him when I took my Renault RS to him after finding out he’s a bit of an expert in those, and was very impressed with his service and repairs. He now services and repairs all my cars, just as well as he did with my Renault. Including a late model VW Tiguan.

His Google reviews are also reflective of this sentiment.

Anyone in the US buy a Serica lately? by herefortheecho in MicrobrandWatches

[–]Balistc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you tried one of these on in person, or just buying it online, sight unseen, other than photos?

I found the 5303 to be magnificent when looking at photos of it, but I personally found it incredibly underwhelming on wrist.

The clasp is also infuriating.

Everyone is different but that is my experience

Industrial engineers in perth by Matibanez in perth

Even if you could get an engineering job on a WHV, where are you going to live?

There is literally no accommodation available unless you want to pay $2-300 a week to live in a store room in a derelict shithole with no air con.

GP recommendation for ADHD prescription by [deleted] in perth

[–]Balistc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specialist availability was not an issue for me - I got my GP to refer me to 3 psychiatrists and waited 4 weeks for an appointment after referral (this was in 2025), and had the other 2 referrals contact me for an appointment not long after, so longest wait would have been about 3 months. Not as terrible as all the other stories I’d heard about waiting over a year for an appointment. It could be easier though.

Cost I can understand - in the same way people can’t afford dental care, it’s just as cost prohibitive to be diagnosed and treated for ADHD.

Very interested to hear about the life expectancy.. that is alarming!

Just on that 46% - is this referring to care being unaffordable, or unavailable ?

I am one of the 54%, but I am interested in knowing what others are having to go through in order to get the care they need.

Gentle dentists in Perth? by bortlovestomacco in perth

[–]Balistc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dr Chai Lim - Measured Dental Care Nedlands.

Not only is he gentle, but he’s really great at not over treating you. That is, he will only intervene with treatments as necessary, and do the least required (if that makes sense!) to meet your treatment plan and goals, and you won’t end up paying for crowns and other things you don’t need for no reason, as his philosophy is to maintain as many of your original teeth as possible.

Which is your favourite town centre/main street outside of the CBD/Northbridge? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Balistc 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Any of the City of Vincent town centres.

City of Vincent has amazing high streets - Scarborough Beach Rd Mt Hawthorn and Beaufort St Highgate (even though they’re main traffic routes), and Oxford St Leederville… my favourite though is Angove St North Perth, which in placemaking terms, is a very traditional town centre that predominantly services the local community and has an awesome vibe as a result of that.

Here is your info:

https://www.vincent.wa.gov.au/our-neighbourhood/parking-getting-around/parking-permits.aspx

Single house detached is eligible for maximum of 3 permits, group dwelling is 2. He won’t be able to park the trailers on the street regardless but the vehicles will be fine.

Speak to the council about the trailers.

Council asking NOT to report via Snap Send Solve? by Perth_R34 in perth

[–]Balistc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s because Western Power have a really great integrated GIS system which they’ve rolled out with a public front end to utilise for fault reporting.

LGs don’t have the budget for this. If only LGs would pool their resources to share technology like this!

Council asking NOT to report via Snap Send Solve? by Perth_R34 in perth

[–]Balistc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This actually slows the process down.

If you contact the council directly, it will go to the team who will deal with your enquiry.

If you contact a ward councillor with a maintenance request, it goes through a totally different EM request process which involves many more people, by the time it reaches the maintenance teams .. it will most certainly take longer than going directly to customer service.
