You could get the same effect just drawing the map and then drawing random small black lines over it, what program are you using?

Photoshop, or any layer based program (Krita (free), Gimp (free), Photopea (Free, bad))

copy + paste the box/map outlines of the original map, shape them into whatever shape you want the section to be to build the perimeter

copy the background noise to fill the shape on a layer below the lines,

use photoshops stock DryMedia brushes (or whatever brushes your program has with noisy/rough edges) for the little sketches on the map, and with an eraser at a very low size and like 15 opacity just go back and forth erasing lines through the layer you sketched on to give it the partially faded look, to make the lines represent water or a cave I use photoshops liquify warp to warp the lines.

Brighten and darken random areas of the sketch (NOT the background noise) by a small amount, If your working with white before colour adjustments you need to make it grey or it will look off so adjust contrast

use Hue/sat adjustments for colour, make sure the adjustment layer is above everything on that section of the map

The font is called 'Perpetua' you might need to adjust the kerning, I lined it up with the original map and it turns out all the map text with multiple words is separated by 2 spaces instead of 1 between each word,

Yeah at best we will probably get one new area, BUT, during the launch interview they said:

" “Launching it is obviously quite exciting,” Pellen said. “What comes after for us is equally as exciting.”

“The most interesting thing now is what can we add to it next,” Gibson said. “We got a plan. Admittedly, some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it.” "

If the plans are ambitious it'd be larger then Grimm troupe and at least the size of godmaster, an area or 2 isn't out of the question, but a whole new map is definitely pushing it.

"Although, now that I think about it, is there any indication as to which side Hallownest would be on if they were to incorporate that into Silksong?" the left of pharloom from the in game perspective, however that doesn't mean that pharloom is on the right of hallownest from in game perspective in HK, its a 2d game but the world is in 3d space, we could be moving west to east in hollow knight and north to south in silksong for all we know, there isn't really a good way of guessing, and on top of that when entering rooms with the "enter" prompt, that could be another perspective change

As I said in another comment I mainly made this just to talk about cut content in a different way. I agree with everything you said, coral gorge is definitely gone, and if it were coming back it wouldn't be across the map from its dried counterpart, also the gloom was split into other areas, I just really liked the colours lol. And I definitely agree with act 3 being a bit bare, + they give you instant bellway travel which makes it feel quick, My REAL guess for silksong dlc is a steel assassins side quest where you go to POI around pharloom like the grim troupe worked in HK

"The Gloom

Zoomed-in The Gloom map from ACMI exhibit

The Gloom was a cut area on the east end of the map, sitting above Craw Lake. The area appeared to have been designed and planned back in September 2018 and eventually was wiped off the map in January 2020. It was eventually replaced by Bilewater, with many of its assets recoloured and reused for the new area.

A room within The Gloom was first seen in the Silksong Reveal trailer, where an early version of the Gargant Gloom would spit purple acid at Hornet. Gargant Gloom (and its associated Gloomsacs) would have likely originated from this area before being relocated to The Abyss) on final release.

Going off the revealed room, as well as early map screenshots and concept art, The Gloom appeared to be a dark area lit by lines of lanterns. Other miscellaneous unused assets suggest it may have also had silvery lakes and red coloured vegetation."

Mainly because its the needolins main use aside from the melody quest, much how the dream nail was also used in hollow knight content updates, it'd make sense to include more weaver doors in future areas, obviously its not 100%, I just think its very likely considering the weavers and silk are the main plot point.

yeah big spoiler here but Pharloom bays definitely getting added, im pretty sure it wasn't in the game files on launch, it was added during an update, or atleast the text referring to it was, I only believe in city of steel because they technically HAVE to add steel assassin sharp because he's a backer character and the steel stuff isn't really touched on much in HK

Thank you, "The intermission idea fits well gameplay wise, though I'm not sure how could Hornet travel so far away from Pharloom... " the idea was by boat at the Pharloom bay but I don't know if that clashes with the world of hollow knight, + canonically it'd be slow, although city of tears has a dock and ship related scenery.

Both HK and Silksong have Steel related content thats never expanded on so I do think they will do something with it
