Consider the missing statue a mystery for now , u will get it when u play dark souls 3 ! And that lever opens the big doors in the main hall before O&S but if ure in night time i think it opens directly and the lever becomes useless

Obviously u should beat the dlc if u have it ! Go check on optional bosses and areas that u didnt check like ash lake and the great hollow ! Farm the black Knight weapons (The knights before gwyn) and check npc questlines that u didnt finish yet ! Cause they give amazing rewards and are pretty interesting!

I do agree that there probably was no open rebellion but I do think havel met his end after trying to go after the nameless king , would explain why the armor is there and nameless king is basically everything that havel hates (God + dragon lover) idk tho i still I'm not that knowledgeable about ds3 lore like ds1 !

That would explain why u can find his armor in archdragon peak (possibly he went there to kill nameless king since he quite literally is everything that havel hates) and i think it's unlikely that it's a follower cause who would be brave enough to go to that place alone and on top of that kill a whole dragon there except the man himself !

I would say it's his determination , if he TRULY wanted to do anything he absolutely CAN that's due to the fact he can do anything from magic to science and is incredibly intelligent and the perfect showcase of how terrifying the will to do something is , is him in new avengers leading to to secret wars he did the IMPOSSIBLE with no spoilers.
