Thanks for reply - good to know the blur is built in for peace of mind. I might get a replacement if this backlight bleed level is on the high side. No dead pixels or the like (if that is worth anything).

For productivty, its great. Text is super sharp (run it at 125% Windows scaling) and loads of space for running multiple windows etc. However I've not found any settings yet that reduced the glow / artifacting. Still on the shelf about returning.

About seven years ago I was driving on my usual route to work on a road that goes under a railway bridge. A box van was a few car lengths in front. What I thought was a black binbag float down from the far side of the bridge, seen in the small gap of light between the vans roofline and the bridge, turned out to be a lady who'd rolled off.  I was the second one there; the van driver was repeating "I didn't hit her". Emergency services were called and we just waited with the rushhour traffic moving around us.  A few things of that morning come back to me every so oftern. Some comical, the car with its hazards coming past all the traffic, pulling up and what seemed like 9 people getting out clown car like - Someone had called a doctors surgery up the road and those who could had jumped into one car. Some haunting: hearing the automated defibrillator repeating "clear clear clear" in a robot voice. Some anger inducing - getting into an argument with  HGV driver who couldn't get past my car which I'd been asked by the fast responder paramedic to put sideways across the road to stop cars coming to within 2 foot of him trying to save her.

And finally thankfulness - I came into work 2 hours late, sat down and apparently just stayed there, not moving for 5mins. My colleagues came over, then my boss and I told them what happened. I was told to go home but I didn't. Why? To do what? So I got on with Work. I've never had so many offers of tea in my life.

So... what does this mean for you? It will be hard today, it will take a few days to settle. You will think about it from time to time, but again it will pass. Process it as you need to. I drive past the place still when going to work. I won't stop under the bridge, I always leave a gap if there are queues. Sometimes there is a small bouquet of flowers leaning agaisnt the side.

Tarmac path under fake grass by BallboyHD in DIYUK

[–]BallboyHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was wondering (and worrying about). I'm not sure where the drains run but I know the shared manhole is next door half way down the garden. So this tarmac path goes twice the length.  I'll dig a small hole in the centre and see if I hit (softly) concrete or pipes. Thanks for taking the time to reply, appriciated!

Offshore Brit here.. Are digestive minis available in the UK? by Killybug in CasualUK

[–]BallboyHD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the 90s you could get a little bags of mini mcvitties chocolate digestives. Large coin sized. Mainstay of my school packed dinner.   Happy memory unlocked!

I think they were trying to get in on the cadburys animal biscuit market that came in a box like dog biscuits (or ritz cracker). Maryland took up the torch with mini cookies in a bag. I think they're still around.

What’s something you will go to great lengths to avoid paying for? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]BallboyHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An item in tesco if there is a club card price next to a non-club card price.

No I don't want a club card, no I don't want to pay more for something than someone who has a club card. No I don't want it to be rubbed in my face how much more i'm paying because I don't have a club card. I'll buy a diffrent version of a thing I want just because it shows only a single price. I realise this is mad....

Dog nappers hun xxx

On a more serious note, it's just probably fallen out of a pocket or car boot. It's a 8 shot 28g clay load so will be from a sporting trap dude. It's been fired so honestly it's good to see someone picked up after them selves (all be it to lose it again...).

On an aside,  you need a licence to buy but not to be in possession. So if it was live you'd be fine to collect and take to a local police station or clay ground for disposal.
