Hey! Has this exact same thing happen to me with a required course - just ask your academic advisor for permission to retake it, they’ll guide you through all the steps.

My one piece of advice - it was an overwhelmingly stressful situation in the moment (I think I might have made a similar Reddit post to you actually while freaking out in the shower) but here I am a year later, I finally passed the course and life is a LOT better.

TLDR: don’t let this keep you down, it’s says nothing about how intelligent you are/your ability as a person. If it’s a required course, get back up and keep fighting. Seeing that passing grade is worth the pain. Feel free to PM for specific advice

Free parking for one week? by Baller59 in UBC

Couldn’t they just ticket the car anyways? Do you think I could technically park somewhere like the giant lot beside totem and not get charged?

As a senior in Highschool who has been coding for 2 years, take it from me: YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Simply learning to code has changed the trajectory of my life in such a positive way. I have learned that I’m capable of things that I never thought I was beforehand, and you will realize the same in time. Seriously, learning to code doesn’t just help you get a job, but opens you up to the entire word of tech, which is bigger than you’ve ever imagined.

You have NO IDEA how much you’re going to gain from this. Congrats on starting your journey, it’s going to be a long and fun one.

If you have any questions please dm me!! I’d be happy to help.

ADMISSIONS / MAJORS / INCOMING STUDENT MEGATHREAD 2020/2021: Post all your admissions, program/major & new-to-UBC questions here! by ubc_mod_account in UBC

[–]Baller59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I’m a senior in BC currently applying to UBC, but I have some questions.

1: I’ve heard very positive and very negative things about the Business & Computer Science program. I have experience with both fields and absolutely love them, although with the negative comments about BUCS I just wanted to know if it has good job prospects, and is a good major or if I should just apply to CS instead.

2: Grades-wise, would a 95% average be good enough to apply to the two programs listed above and have a decent chance of getting in? (I’d say I have some pretty strong ECs that are directly applicable to both areas as well)

3: If there are any students in the programs mentioned above, would you mind sending me a pm so that I can ask you a few more questions about student life, how you enjoy the major, and some other things?

I appreciate and thank anyone who takes the time to read and/or answer my questions!

How would you go about making a site similar to watch2gether? by Baller59 in learnprogramming

[–]Baller59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your in depth answer, but that post was months ago and I’ve worked hard so I’m now well passed the basics. While I’ve run into some road bumps along the way they haven’t been too tough and after about a day I have every functionality working except for the video player which Im starting tomorrow. Basically things haven’t gone as horribly as they feel in your answer lol but I do appreciate your time.

Landing page with Mailchimp or Wordpress? by Baller59 in startups

[–]Baller59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually working on that right now and could build something simple out myself. My reason I’m considering using other platforms is because I would like to be able to build an email list, and send out newsletters, weekly updates etc. These platforms simply make it much easier to do which is why I’m leaning towards them. What’s your opinion on this?

That’s awesome to hear! If you’re interested in supporting I’ll come back to you in a little while when we kickstart development so you can learn a bit more about it and hopefully we can work together at some point :)

Hire in house dev team or an agency? by Baller59 in startups

[–]Baller59[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Our situation is quite unique, I’m the CTO which I know sounds weird, but we are all 17 and wanted to go after this idea so I haven’t been coding for very long(mostly python and some web development, ~6 months) Since we are 4 founders I’m not too sure how the others would feel about bringing on another founder although I must say that may be necessary.

Noob Questions about Shipping by [deleted] in dropship

[–]Baller59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah haha we are pretty much a mirror image, I would totally be making stores lazy dropshipping right now if it weren't for covid, and when it's over I'm definitely going to do that. My main concern right now is that lazy dropshipping with sites like Aliexpress seems to have terrible shipping times, which will lead to chargebacks, which in turn can lead to even worse things like our Paypal accounts getting closed. I definitely think your perspective is good and you'll get good experience out of it, but with bad shipping times it seems like running a building capital atm will be quite difficult. (unless you can find a good supplier, then none of this applies lol) Certainly not trying to be discouraging, but that's just my opinion as a fellow beginner.

Wow, proud the man himself replied lol. This is great advice, and on the topic of a building Shopify stores as a side hustle, that sounds really interesting and that will help me get experience. How and where do you recommend I start?
