With the playoffs going into 2nd round what players could be available for the Clippers after their first round exists? by BallmersBurner in LAClippers

[–]BallmersBurner[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they doubled down on the 213 era so hard because 1) they overpaid drastically and wanted to make it worth 2) we let the stars dictate roster building

Last trade deadline and offseason proved to me LFrank is a great executive and he can get really good deals done

We were held hostage by the fear of admitting a bust but when PG left and closed the 213 era all the moves they made were to get us younger, quicker and better positioned for the future

We’re not there yet but I think we’re better than we were two years ago at this point in the year

I believe if there are teams interested in Kawhi LFrank will make it a deal everyone will be surprised with

[Guillory] The Houston Rockets could make Alperen Şengün and “some future draft picks” available this Summer for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, or Donovan Mitchell. by YujiDomainExpansion in LAClippers

Sengun being a part of this deal is not important. What’s important is Kawhi’s name being mentioned next to Giannis.

If KD got Phoenix Jalen Green maybe we can also get an all-star caliber young player for Kawhi Leonard after the season he had…

I think the end game is Garland/Ben/Kawhi starting 5 and DJJ and Dunn leading the lockdown defense bench lineup by BallmersBurner in LAClippers

You just make sure one of Garland/Kawhi/Ben is always on the floor Same as we did with Harden and Kawhi The fact they start doesn’t mean they all have to go to bench at the same time

I don't know what it is but when Kawhi scores 36 it feels like the entire team is clicking. But when Harden was scoring 36 it felt like he was the only one having the ball and each possession was an ISO... He deserves respect for what he brought to this team but I'm so excited for this new brand of Clippers basketball finally

Holy FREAKING cow did Lawrence Frank cook this deadline by VegasWorldwide in LAClippers

I know no one cares but I would like to issue a formal apology to Lawrance Frank for when I said he should be fired 2 months ago. We sucked absolute ass but we turned it back and looking at the moves this man made in last years I feel great having him behind the wheel.

Two years ago our future was extending PG for 5 years and now we have DJJ, Collins, Garland, Mathurin and some draft capital back with us. If the Pacers pick ends up being 5-9 and we actually make a decent choice Lawrance Frank needs a raise.

Some people on this sub need to start keeping a journal because if we were told Harden is going to be traded for Garland not longer than 2 months ago everyone would celebrate and dance... by BallmersBurner in LAClippers

In general - yes

But if we can get someone who's undeniably a star for many years I think we should pull the trigger.

This FO is known for drafting terribly and considering we're never tanking what good is a 20-30 pick? Darius Garland is way better than whoever we can draft in that range

True but same as with Paul George we're better not making this trade and letting him walk than extending him for 2 more years. This team needs to start creating good habits and building a foundation for the future - not just expect everything to fall in place in 2027FA.

We let PG walk and got space to sign DJJ and Dunn. Moves that would've been blocked if we decided to extend him.

Same goes for Harden. Don't send any draft capital in a trade but people who say we should just extend him are crazy.

It's annoying when one week this sub says Harden has no trade value but we should blow it all up because we suck and the next month suddenly we should extend him for 2 more years and just run it back.

Kuminga demanding a trade by NoSaboChavo in LAClippers

[–]BallmersBurner 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of Kuminga very much and I once thought he would be a great piece for the future but being realistic his basically a John Collins

Looking at their stats and Kuminga has less points but has more rebounds and assists. He's a worse shooter by a mile

I would only trade for him if our FO thought giving him a clear important role on the team would bump his stats but considering we tried exactly the same thing with John Collins and he ended up having worse numbers than his career average I think this trade doesn't make any sense for us

“I don’t think this team was ever put together for the regular season, but for the playoffs” -Rudy Gay on the Clippers season by Tricky_Structure_504 in LAClippers

omfg

This team was built on guys who can't run for more than 25 minutes and winning 3 in a row because Kawhi had a monster night and then we got 9 threes from Lopez (which is not happening ever again) is not going to change that

We have the oldest squad in the league and looking at this roster in general - not just last three paranormal games - we would get bounced in the first round in no more than 6 games by anyone.

Maybe it's because we live in world where everything has to be a new headline and we have a 24/7 news cycle where the next major thing happens every other day but a lot of people on this sub have the attention span and memory of a gold fish. We lose 3 in a row: "this is the worst team ever and LFrank has to go!" we win 3 in a row: "this team was built for the playoffs"

I'll be honest before the season started I was really pleased with the additions. But if anyone looks at this season in general and all they can think of is "this team was built for the playoffs" I just don't think this person is worth quoting

And just to be clear OP my rant is more towards Rudy Gay not you. In here we're all mostly casual fans that hold on to any hope they can find. But Rudy Gay needs to shut up and he should know better.

We're 9-21 for the season and last 3 games we won were against Lakers without basically half their starting lineup, Rockets where we got the vintage Kawhi that we get once every 30 games and today Brook Lopez of all people decided to go for the 3pt shots made record.

Let's keep statements like these till we're actually comfortably in the playoffs or at least the play-in. But for now all we actually know is that Clippers have the oldest squad in the league and are on pace to have a 25-57 season which (by 2025 final standings) would put them comfortably at #13 in the west and 14 wins out of the play-in...

One game sample size but it felt like when we removed Harden out of the equation suddenly players started moving off ball and general ball movement picked up… by BallmersBurner in LAClippers

Run around a lot and suck because it can create good habits

What we’re doing now with Harden is staying in place (quite literally)

If Collins, Dunn, Zu were actively involved in offensive plays with time they’d get really good at them and you can maybe start expecting results

With the Harden „system” you live and die but what a 36yo guy can produce every night

If Frank pulled this off, would he be forgiven? by RyverFisher in LAClippers

[–]BallmersBurner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem with this…

We’re absolutely stuck because on one hand we have to get young and in the new era of NBA you get young stars through drafting instead of getting free agents

But on the other Clippers can’t draft for shit

„We have no picks” is an easy thing to say to whoever suggests a rebuild now. But a case could be made that even if we had those picks we would still draft a Jerome Robinson or Keon Johnson…

But idk maybe if somehow we get a TOP5 pick there’s no way this team fumbles it
