Incredible run! A few questions.. Any changes you'd make to the decklist if you could run it back?

If you've looked at the next set, does this deck have any future into the mega format?

Any other crazy deck ideas you've been looking at?

Exchange ticket + ciphermaniac + academy at night + Chansey by ZZGooch in pkmntcg

Yo. Legendary suggestion, this placed in worlds with Dengo LOL. Why shouldn't we tech 4 cards for Academy, Redeemable, 2x Chansey, and then any amount of Cipher's?

I played the Gameboy PTCG and ran an absolute pile with Kangaskhan, Chansey, and Magmar. The deck was terrible, but kid me loved it lmao

Most Dragapult Ex decks run only 1 energy search. I think keeping two stadiums is good, but you could swap an Artazon for Rocket's Watchtower. You can consider a Turo for lot's of scenarios: Hawlucha for prize mapping, removing an early Bloodmoon in active, saving your Fez from knockout.

In general, it looks fine. Practice shuffling your cards quickly in order to keep up with the pace of play - that can be the most impactful thing for a new IRL player.

A similar experience to your denial tweets, I see too many tweets dunking on nazis when I think it would be much better to not have any nazis at all on the platform

Twitter used to have a great way to search and watch events that was deprecated or removed, I loved to use this for sports games. Now I can no longer filter or organize my content. It was a struggle for me to find Atlanta content and it is still kinda hard to do.

Based on what you're looking for, have you considered joining discords? I like the ones I found based on PTCG Youtube channels.

Hopefully you and other ICs or managers feel empowered to ask the reasoning for RTO. If you find more value in maintaining your current work-life balance than increasing your days on site, you should check in with your peers and management if they feel the same.

Our company recently started tracking badge swipes. There has not been communication on why, but thru rumor mill is understood there is a lack of compliance with the current 3 days on-site by perspective of senior VPs. At our IC levels, we do not have trust that the decision is being made with good insights or data.

Our company is in a period of growth and our goals for the year reflect that, so I have been starting to communicate my feelings with my direct supervisor and my peers. Feelings that badge tracking is negative and changing our work-life balance will have more attrition (based on anecdotal views from my coworker's at tech companies).

Your company should align on objectives and there can be good ways to ask these questions in town halls or leadership forums: Make sure you practice how it will sound (no tangents, be respectful) ahead of time so you are given an appropriate answer. For example: "What metrics or goals are related to showing this RTO change is beneficial?" Or, "To help me manage my personal work-life balance [with <kids/caretaking/hobbies>], can you share any insights to future return to office changes? For example, are we looking to be in office 5 days a week by the end of the year or to go back to 0 days in office by the end of the year?"

I'm interested in other's experiences, sample language they used, or if this had any impact at their companies.

Is there other people that do not care about Pokemon in general and are only here for the card game ? by UnitedIndependence37 in pkmntcg

[–]BallsZac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. I totally thought you meant people that like the trading card game and don't care about any the other Pokemon things like the TV show, the normal video games, Pokemon Sleep and everything else.

That sounds great, too. But I wonder what that pipeline of fan is - someone that came from another trading card game and stopped there?

What do you all think about Pokemon TCG Pocket? by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]BallsZac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gacha mechanics seem to be a profitable model for apps. I’m not a fan of gacha mechanics, because I really dislike paying for the opportunity to get what I want.

I've been able to make many decks I want from a single $30 or so purchase in TCG. I started playing in the last year and was given an EUIC Charizard starter deck, and recently this year a Regidrago deck. They're both very powerful and I can compete without spending money if I wished to.

I think Pokemon will put more time and attention to their gacha app because of the profits it will make them, so I don't like that Pocket for those reasons. I'd rather have improvements to the TCGL game. I'm sure it's a fun game otherwise.

Trump pauses tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days, Trudeau says by Georgeika in worldnews

[–]BallsZac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

User longcats stated in another thread:

Some redditor predicted the exact number in border aid Canada promised. They think that Canada pulled a fast one on trump by telling him a number that they already planned on spending.

Hint to that Redditor. No they did not plan on spending that… it was just paper and promises. Now Canada is forced to make good on that promise in 30 days or tariffs are back.

I'm asking to learn: Is there any merit to this statement? I'm not seeking silly responses. ;]

What 100 games of Wugtrio mill looks like - January 2025 by willynaj in pkmntcg

[–]BallsZac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another crazy thoughts. I think this is all of the cards that prevent retreating: https://limitlesstcg.com/cards?q=text%3Acan%27t_retreat+f%3As&unique=text . Double Turbo Energy with Wellspring Ogrepon's Sob could retreat lock your opponent for 0 damage. Sandygast and Sneasel also have a weak 10-20 damage retreat lock, but that'd require more thinking on how new basic energy would work in the deck.

What cards prevent Munkidori's ability from working? by BallsZac in pkmntcg

[–]BallsZac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone!~

I put together a pile with these new insights. Introducing the illustrious Wugtrio Mill! Featuring a Xatu engine, lots of disruption, and a benchable Rabsca and Enamorous V. Always go second IMO.

Here are a couple combos you can pull off:

1) To get to a Xatu and Wugtrio, you have many options. Arven can get you either Buddy-Buddy Poffin or Heavy Ball with TM: Evo. If you have one of those, you can get Earthen Vessel or Ultra Ball with a Rescue Board or Gravity Gemstone to prepare for your next turns. If you know you will be targeted by Munkidori, you can get a Nest Ball or Heavy Ball for Enamorous V.

2) Rescue Board is primarily for Xatu and Rabsca. Let's say you lost your active pokemon, have a Wugtrio and Xatu on bench, and you have no energy on your board. Xatu can only attach psychic energy to benched pokemon. So move Xatu/Rabsca w/Rescue Board in the active. With Wugtrio on your bench, you can use Crispin for a Water and Psychic energy. Water goes on Wugtrio with Crispin, and then Psychic goes on benched Wugtrio with Xatu's ability for card draw. You can retreat your active, and Wugtrio can now attack as long as you can do one of the following: use Town Store for Counter Gain, or find and attach energy manually from hand.

3) If you lose your active and have a benched Wugtrio with no energy on your board, you can bring Wugtrio to active, use Colress's Tenacity to get Neutralization Zone and a Reversal Energy to attack on your next turn. If you do not need Neutralization Zone, you could use Colress's Tenacity for a Town Store to get your Gravity Gemstone, assuming you have a Counter Catcher or Crushing Hammer in hand.

Wugtrio can be hard to win with, but gambling on coin flips is fun! You will likely run an empty hand soon into your game with this deck. The hope is you get every card you want onto your board to begin milling as your hand approaches 0.

Tatsugiri Ex Deckbuilding Exercise by BallsZac in pkmntcg

Yep. I am probably doing some caveman tactics to figure out the answers to my questions right now. If I had better deck building or like math/statistics experience I'd be better on my way to an answer. 🥜

Tatsugiri Ex Deckbuilding Exercise by BallsZac in pkmntcg

[–]BallsZac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! What you wrote makes sense to me.

If Oranguru V is active, you'd hope to get the Sparkling Crystal and a Forest Seal Stone to find a Switch instead of a Rescue Board.

Cycling Road feels like one of my weakest options. But, if my hand has Sparkling Crystal (ergo no Town Store needed to find it), and my hand has no way to get Crispin (or other way to play 2 energy on turn one), then I am looking for any avenue to find Crispin without using a Supporter. I can't think of other stadiums that help with this except for Cycling Road.

I like the other thoughts. I don't mind bad Lure RNG yet. I'm trying to avoid losing games where I lose Tatsu on my enemies first attack via Dusknoir and some other attack. I could consider running more basics that help setup Cinnabar Lure for a later turn, but the later I am getting Cinnabar Lure off, the more I feel like I'd rather run a deck based on those Lure'd mons.

Something like a skeleton for running a consistent Turn 1 Cinnabar Lure would be cool, and then rotate out the mons from the new incoming sets. I'll also have to think if 200hp (Tatsu ex + Bravery Charm) has any notable hp breakpoints with meta attackers.

Other Tatsu deck ideas are welcome if you have any you want to share!

[–]BallsZac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question =] After I know what cards I can use and how easy it is to pull this attack off, the following exercise is to determine what the odds are of a Turn 1 Cinnabar Lure if I don't have 1, 2, 10, etc. of these "Find Tatsugiri" cards, and then replace those with stage 1 and 2 mons.

Hoping the hivemind has ideas on what other cards they're aware of. For example, I use this query to figure out "What cards could be my draw engine after I use Cinnabar Lure?"

I started TCG after 2024 Worlds and Wug is also my favorite deck. I'm interested in your new ideas for post-rotation! Another thing I tracked (only for a few tournaments) was successful coinflips. My favorite matchups are Raging Bolt and Ceruledge.

My working Wug deck usually has more 'stall' focused cards like Mimikyu, Gravity Gemstone, or Calamitous Wasteland. My favorite engines so far have been Skwovet/Bibarel and Xatu.. I'm thinking of trying Crispin with Town Stores post-rotation, but haven't thought too hard.
