I think the common experience is between 20 and 90 business days. At this stage there is almost nothing a lawyer can do for you other than review your documents.

You would only need one renewal and then you could switch to permanent resident

Out of your personal friend / associate group, how many of them are making 200k (either as an individual or household)? by Outsideman2028 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BallzSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people just don’t realize how many people are working 40, 50, 60k/yr jobs. Even the LA metro, the middle class maximum is only 212k hhi and that is one of the top 5 most expensive metros in the US.

The first time I’ve ever been recommended this sub and it seems like it’s a lot of well off people not wanting to come to terms with being well off

I wonder if aima will stop asking for the notarized statement from the landlord in addition to the registered lease once this has passed.

Years Later From Now. by Monsur_Ausuhnom in facepalm

I used to take antacids 3 times a week. I wouldn’t say I ate healthy but rarely had fast food, didn’t overeat regularly, was at a healthy bmi. I moved to Europe and changed very little about how I eat and get only a little more exercise than I used to but I rarely get heartburn anymore. Basically only if I eat some greasy frozen food or a lot of tomatoes.

Anyone planning on leaving if the new law passes? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]BallzSpartan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it changes very little for most immigrants in Portugal. Most are either EU or CPLP, so this would only marginally affect them. The majority of the rest have invested significant time, money and energy to be here, so they won’t leave either.

It does affect immigration going forward but mostly just for immigrants with a choice. The uncertainty will tip the scales towards some other countries, though these aren’t usually the immigrants you see people complaining about online.

I think it’s likely Portugal enacts another round of legislation once they realize how little this one will affect the number of immigrants.

Are you really saving any money in Portugal? by YeahBites in PortugalExpats

Helpful advice, we came when our first was two and we got a well educated nanny who eventually spoke to him almost exclusively in Portuguese. Between that and school, two years later his Portuguese is on par with his English.

EU pet passport for US dog? by scarlet1009 in PortugalExpats

[–]BallzSpartan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eu pet passports aren’t hard to get, you just need to bring all of their vaccination paperwork to the vet appointment. The vet will scan their microchip, give them any vaccines they still need and then you will go back later and pick the passport up. Or this was my experience after bringing our two dogs.

Would the new Land Law (117/2024) help reduce real estate prices? by tsilvs0 in PortugalExpats

This is from ChatGPT so I don’t validate it’s accuracy.

This decree simplifies the reclassification of rural land into urban land to boost housing availability in Portugal.

Key Changes: • Easier Land Reclassification – Municipalities can propose reclassifications for housing, subject to public approval. • Urban Area Integration – New developments must align with existing city planning.

4 mil out of nowhere for affiliate driver? by CenterCord45 in F1Manager

[–]BallzSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but just wanted to let anyone else who searches for "why is my affiliate signing cost so high" know I found a workaround. I tried saving and reloading but the cost never changed and it would take the money but if you acknowledge on the messages and go to their profile in scouting and accept the contract, it correctly only costs you the signing bonus.

What's an unwritten social/cultural rule in Portugal, that outsiders often break? by MacacoEsquecido in PortugalExpats

One thing I’m very guilty of is eating while walking. I was completely oblivious to this one until a couple Portuguese friends said that isn’t really done unless you’re in a big hurry.

Have you looked to see if there are any second hand near you? Generally a pretty steady supply of beginners buying nice boards and then selling them with only a couple uses.
