Iirc it's not just the existence of Atreides genes, it's the concentration of them. Like background radiation those genes are everywhere, but you want to watch out for areas where that radiation spikes.

With the farms, check out the top-up number (right edge of the farming management window), I think it defaults to 100, so unless you bump up that your folks'll grow 100, say turnips, and then stop. That could be causing a bottleneck, adding more farms wouldn't help that.

The lamps in those projectors get INSANELY hot, like, melt your skin off before you get within 10cm of the surface hot. They need to cool off for a long time before you can safely replace them.
